Help?
I'm currently in the process of listing costume jewelry I have inherited from my Grandma. Along with some pieces from my Mom. I found a broken string of pearls. And my Mom honestly can't remember if she bought them in Spain or in Rome. Just that it was in 1968.

Details:
Necklace is 23" inches long. Pearl size is 7-8 mm. Silver pearl safety clasp (925). I can't tell what material the string is made from. They are double knotted.

Any help with identification would be appreciated!

Hi,

Those have all the appearance of Mallorca / Majorca brands imitation pearls that are made in Spain. These brands are nicer imitation pearls.

I think I'm reading the word "METALL" on the clasp. I have an imitation pearl necklace with that mark. Does it also read 925? If so that is sterling silver, a common metal used in clasps of these brands of imitation pearls.

Rub them together gently. Are they gritty feeling or smooth? Even good imitation pearls will glide smoothly against each other. Real pearls on the other hand will feel gritty.
