I have been eyeing this baroque strand listed online. Seller says it was passed down from her grandmother and doesn't know much about it. Identification of the stamp on the clasp has been queried on this site previously and is simply thought to be the clasp-maker's hallmark. Some of the pearls have large ripples. Any thoughts on what they are and a reasonable offer? Thanks!

It appears to be a strand of beaded freshwater pearls, so it wouldn't be older than 0-15 years. It appears to have some cracking in the nacre on a few of the pearls. That could be the photography, but if not, the pearls might continue to come apart.

I'd want to see more photos, especially of the drill holes, before purchasing.

Just added the images here so members can see the photos without the need to download those PDF files

I decided to go with this 17" strand, which I purchased secondhand online from someone who said they were SSP -- a gift that she wore once. They measure ~12 to 14 mm, are off-round, have some blemishes, lowish luster, and are mostly silver-toned with a few having a yellow-tinge. Clasp is marked 750. One drill hole has a brown spot as shown but otherwise no discolorations. I'm pretty happy as they feel very nice. I don't mind that they are imperfect (just like me!).

I believe the most important thing is to LOVE what you buy :08:
If you accept the imperfections as a trait of the pearls and you love them as they are: you are ALL SET!
Happy to hear you made a choice :)
