Which reminds me, did they call you Chatty Cathy like they did me? Everytime I opened my mouth (don't SAY it! I know what you are thinking!) someone would pull the imaginary ripcord in my back. At least I think it was imaginary.

Yes, that's a cool thing Mike found to do. Caitlin flatters me too much, though. I'm very happy to be a lowly beader. So, how did the Pattye come about? That's such an unusual spelling.

I might have got Chatty Cathy occasionally, mostly Mum called me Kate, Dad called my Catherine very loudly when I was in trouble and the boys in high school called me a rude variation of my surname which was Whitehouse )

Dad called me Kate, mom called me Katie. No one knew how to pronounce or spell "Caitlin" Dad got it from James Steven's "The Crock of Gold" and said it was actually pronounced Cathileen Like Shawn- or Sean- you know those Irish names!

Now it is the most common name around- if you count all the different spellings. In the library or the grocery store, I hear people say "Katelin" and I turn around- and its a youngster being called by a mom!

Yes, I have my 10 yr old granddaughter, Katelynne, (Katie) her mom's middle name is Lynne, so they created the combined name, of course her middle name is Patricia---!

Those other nicknames were from my Mom when she ws annoyed with me! My childhood name was "Patty" and from peers "Patty fatty" -- when I changed schools in the 6th grade I told them "Pat" to sound more grown up--when I needed a name for ebay, and not relating to dragonfly20 or something, I just threw the e on as a whim and used it when I started posting over here too. Never thought much about it until Tucson Gem Show 2008, and realized I would be Pattye again (after more than 50 years) to all my Pearly Friends I was meeting for the first time face to face! Now I rather like having a special nickname in my Pearly world!
