Hello all
Here’s another piece in my mother’s box. I know that they were bought from either Persia or India in late 50s or 60s.
Obviously it is a bracelet, but has anyone seen something similar?
Any Middle Eastern expert out there who can provide more info?
Thanks for any input,
Jaye

The bracelet is beautiful. Can you get closeups on the various plaques?

My auntie in England once brought my Mom a hostess gift of a large spiral shell. The spiral was painted with a continuous scene that went round and round the shell. It was gorgeous. I don't know what happened to it.

BWeaves,
It’s night time here in Bkk. I wil try to get better photos in daylight. They are so small and delicate, much like Mughal miniatures.
Would really love to know more about them. I never saw my mother wearing them.

Here are more close ups.

I wonder if each frame tells a story. Very neat piece you have there!

We are lucky that you shared such a delightful piece with us. Thank you.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. i'm sure my mother would have loved that you appreciate the beauty of this bracelet.
When i'm back in DC, i will take it to the Sackler Museum and see if i can get more info.

Oh goodness, I've seen several similar pieces recently, but they weren't on MOP, they were made of blue morpho butterfly wings that had been carefully used to make pictures. I believe, but not 100% sure, that it was an early 1900s trend, and the pictures depict traditional middle-eastern stories and legends. That is absolutely gorgeous. Persian story bracelets/jewelry, I think, is what they are generally referred to. Sadly, I've been outbid on all the lovely examples I've seen.

Ok, just gome some info on this bracelet. They are Persian. Considered folk art. Panels are meant to tell a story.
They’ve been made for several hundred years, perhaps much longer, and the older pieces are more valuable to collectors of Persian art.
