Avi Raz shows at the Tucson Gem Show, so I have seen many of his one of a kinds over the past decade. His work is as good as it gets. And that includes just about every one of a kind pearl artist from centuries past. Those are heirloom pieces and I bet some will end up in museums- if they haven't already.

Avi said that his family in the old country produced wine, so when he saw the pearl, he recognized it as a traditional wine skin. Now I really do feel like a glass of wine!

It was such a thrill to get a great photograph of this wonderful necklace. The lighting in shows is hit and miss and pearls can be fiendishly difficult to capture at their best, but this one delivered on its promise. I feel so lucky to represent our community to the trade.
