Oh My God! Pp Monthly!!

Okay then, don't slip back into lurking for long. Octavia and I agree that the people at the Pearl Paradise office are faboo. You are so lucky!

Hi ghp.. and welcome to p-g! It's always nice when our lurkers 'come out' so to speak. And lucky you.. just down the road from PP! Sounds like a slippery slope for you!! And you went straight for a rope.. I am sure we will see a lot more of you!

Allsaint - welcome to you too - your strand is gorgeous! Hope you love wearing it!

Thanks everyone! Similar to ghp, I have been lurking here for more than a year now... I learned a lot from everyone.. and yes I enjoyed wearing my pearls A LOT!!

I am attaching a real person picture... although it really doesn't do the pearls justice... they are very shiny and it's not captured by the pic.. :)

Those Akoyas have a big impact in bringing new "addicts" into the open .......... and into our forum. Welcome to all the "lurkers" !!

Ivona, by the way - did your strand arrive?
Can not wait for photos...;)

Definitely seems like we have been coming out of the woodworks more. :D

Also, I think my heart skipped a beat when I saw the new PP monthly special. I went into autopilot mode and next thing I knew I was submitting an order for the tahitian studs. They will be my first tahitians pearls so I can barely contain myself.

BTW, love the way the akoyas look on everyone. So sophisticated and gorgeous!!!

Welcome to all new members. Your pearls are gorgeous. Thank you for posting pictures.

Ivona, has yours arrived?

Not yet - I expect it this week. As I said - Canada is somewhere close to North Pole (as fas as USPS knows) and I was cheap enough to ask for mailing through them - FedEx is very expensive when it comes to duty / taxes - they charge zillion for processing papers through customs. So I wait and wait and drool over pictures in this thread and wait.......

I keep coming back to drool some more, these are fabulous!!! Now I wish I got some!

So, finally, after one month, I got them.
They look exactly like PP photo of them , so I attach it here.
I'll post my own pictures of them tomorrow.

9.5-10 S silver akoya.jpg

I'm very happy with them : big, plump, sometimes with wrinkles (like me....), silver with green and pink flashes of color... have to wait for different light to maybe see some blue...
Can't wait to get back home and string them....

I shot some pictures . Light was not good - it was sunset when I came back home...

I really hope those pictures will be approved shortly....

Hi Ivona,

Sooooo gorgeous! Pearls with real character!! Thank you! I love the heart clasp-shortener. You have some fabulous strands, for sure, and they look wonderful on you!

You are right. Pictures posted in this thread by other happy owners of this PP offering, showed much cleaner, smoother pearls. I'm happy with my "wrinkly ones". As you said - pearls with character.

I was not able to catch the color/ overtones on my pictures. They are really amazing. I have smaller natural baroque Akoyas - lot of them- and you can't even start to compare. The ones I got now look almost artificial because of the luminosity, play of different overtones and mirror like luster.
One might think they are cheep glass beads - they just shine too much and have to many different flashes of different colors in them.........( when I had them on my desk in the office yesterday - somebody commented "nice beads - what are they ? glass?)
You can see that I'm quite at loss of words to describe them ( I'm not a poet like some people here..;))

My sis, a jeweler, asked me if they were glass today :( After I told her they were real, though, she was just like, "Oh, wow."

I love everyone's strands! They are all so beautiful!

Imanit, I was checking this thread every couple of hours, hoping to see your strands. All your strands are gorgeous!

Here's a picture of my three 9-9.5mm strands. They are a lighter
silvery blue. I love the color as it complements my skin tone well.
I'm getting them strung as two 18 inch strands, a 7 inch bracelet
and an extender with the remaining pearls. This way I can wear it
as an 18 inch strand, a 36 inch rope or doubled as a 47 inch rope.:D

9-9.5 it's not much smaller than mine and tripled or doubled on the neck - they will look amazing.
Do your 3 strands match ???
My two were quite different - one darker, one lighter. I mixed them alternating pearls from both strands, but I'm not too happy. I think, I'll re-knot it placing pearls by shade : dark to light-to dark-to light. Like this , as double strand, I'll have choice of having only light ones or only dark ones in front... I don't know if I make sense trying to explain it.... every necklace I do I redo it 2-3 times before I'm happy with it....but I don't mind - gives me more time playing with pearls.

Yes indeed! My daughter-in-law, who was visiting me on the day I got my strand, looked at it politely and said: "But they are not real, aren't they?"
