Hi everyone,

Could I please get some input from the lovely ladies who already own tahitian pearl rings? I am looking to get one for myself. This will be my first ring purchase and I was wondering if 10mm/11mm pearl would be too big for everyday? Any suggestions for a good pearl size for everyday?

I also am in love with aubergines at the moment! The darker the better! Any lovely ladies willing to share their aubergines pearl rings for me to oogle at?

Thanks so much for the input and any additional advice would be greatly appreciated.

I think it would depend on what you do everyday? do you work at a desk? do you tend to bump your hands and fingers?

I think 10-11 MM is a beautiful size for a ring for everyday wear, but I would take into account your activities

Hi ckrickett
I am a stay at home mom . I don't bump my fingers but I do housework. I guess I could take it off then.

It really depends on the size of your hands, how careful or risk tolerant you are, and mostly just personal preference. 10-11mm would be way too small for me, unless it had a more substantial setting and the pearl was just a focal point of the larger design. I have big paws and just feel like a smaller pearl disappears on my hand.

You might take a piece of gum, piece of foil, etc., and form it into a ball of that size, then see what you think of it on your finger. If you're worried about bumping it, you might also consider a lower-profile pearl, like a mabe or button shaped.

Here are my rings (sorry, no aubergines): The three together are: White south sea (13-14mm), Tahitian (14-15mm?), and south sea golden (16.5 mm). The big (dyed) black Edison pearl is 18mm (it's a little over the top even for me).

Please let us see what you get!

Also, yes please take it off if you are likely to bang the pearl into things or using any cleaning chemicals.

Your pearls are so gorgeous Sea Urchin but especially your Tahitian pearl ring! I think 14mm-15mm suits you best but that is my personal opinion. Do you wear your rings daily and if so which one do you wear?

I was scared if I went too big people might think I am showing off lol. I want to seem modest but I also like big pearls :) The dilemma

Beautiful rings all :) JerseyPearl, love those swirls of tiny diamonds!

Depends on your finger size as well, you could probably carry bigger pearl than someone with tiny fingers.

Gorgeous ring and pearl 😍 JerseyPearl! People must stop and stare at your ring on a daily basis. Where did you get your pearl ring if you don't mind me asking since the design is so unique?

I have a small ring finger. I'll try to post the 11 mm earrings I have on my ring finger for you to see

Here is my 11mm Tahitian earring on my ring finger. Please excuse my terrible wrinkly hands and manicure! So what do you think ladies ? Can I pull off a 11mm pearl ring?

I think so, looks great, or you can go even bigger to 12mm if you like the oversized look.

Pearley, I think that looks lovely on your hand.

As far as worrying that it's too big, well remember PSS (Pearl Shrinkage Syndrome). Pearls look smaller the longer you have them, haha. I am not sure why. The same applies to diamonds! :)

I switch back and forth and usually just wear one for a few hours at a time when I go out, not all the time.

I had forgotten all about worrying about looking like a show off (obviously, ha). But now that you mention it, I remember that with my first wedding rings. I didn't want people to think I drained the poor boy's accounts for it (even though it was really just a CZ anyway).

I wouldn't think pearl size applies as much since diamonds are so much more costly. But I wouldn't want anything I felt self-conscious wearing either, so I get what you're saying. :)

I think you might want to consider that a pearl that is set exposed like the above pictures is very vulnerable to abuse of day to day wear. I would really want to wear a beautiful pearl ring for special occasions, not all the time. Pearls really shouldn't be in water with cleaning fluids and can be scratched by just grazing a wall. They are wondrous organic gems that are very soft on the mohs scale. I'm not trying to pass judgement, by any means, but this is information to know.
