The usual recommendation is to watch eBay for sales of vintage akoya strands. Look at the prices of the ones that actually sold, not what they are listed at. Personally I also follow the prices at the local on-line auction houses. You might have some.
Value is such an abstract thing. Anything is worth what people are willing to pay for it. Someone on this forum bought a vintage akoya strand in a thrift store for $12, I believe. On the other hand I follow one on eBay that is listed at $200.
