Since it's an 'unexpected' purchase I bet there's a story! Does it involve Late Nights on Ebay ???

Lisa C, you are so right, it did involve Late Night, season 1 thus Chipahoy, I am sorry it was just a lucky ebay buy.


And it did involve a bit of story, as I was actually looking for a diamond ring for my mum, who is turning 65 this year and this was mine and my dad's present to her. I did find the perfect ring for her, but when I was surfing sellers' other items, I ended up finding this collier.
I managed to win the auction and as a result my parents decided that it should be my Bday present this year, as I live in different country and they always struggle finding present for me.

I still have not worn this strand (you bet it was an effort!) as my Bday is in June and I promised myself to be patient.

I think your new purchase is perfection. I was watching Jeremy's movie short, The Tahitian Pearl, and while he was helping/watching Mr. Yu uncover new pearls, he described one as "chocolate." Are there natural chocolates? In my limited, yet heavy reading as late on pearls, I had come to the belief that all chocolates were dyed...which was expected and actually okay. Some called it a new fad on where the popularity of pearls were going. Please educate me as some of the gorgeous pearls in this mixed strand seem copper colored, if not chocolate colored.

Thank you in advance for any schooling on this subject. Also, I have seen several auctions on eBay advertising natural chocolates, but, I just dismissed them as some of the junk to watch out for on that site.

There are natural chocolate-colored pearls, but they aren't common, so I would be careful. A matched strand of natural chocolates would be rare and very expensive. There is nothing wrong with treating to get a desirable color as long as the treatment is disclosed to the buyer.
