My new Revenge Victoria Grayson strand!!!

Love you, Lisa C ... but I'm closer to Jersey than you are LOL ... But you're in luck, as lovely as these are, I need blue colors for the new Tahitians :)
JerseyPearl, I think you simply MUST do earrings!!! And then bring it all to a ruckus ...

(Deafening silence from JerseyPearl) Oh well, I need Tahitians first anyway, and I'll be 6' under by the time Jersey gets tired of it...

JERSEYPEARL!!! OMG I LLLUUUUUVVVVV that tassel!!! AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hahhahah OMG I am SO GLAD to have started this stampede!!! That is one GLORIOUS tassel!!! And totally agree - earrings are a MUST!!! And can NOT wait to see the tassel completed with Tahitians!!!!!

I've been thinking about gemstone tassel for a bit, but have been too busy (and lazy lol) to think about mechanisms to make them work. I see that you have used a double string with a "loop" formation at the end of the tassel, very clever! But where do you find strings thin enough to go through a 2.5-3mm rondelle as a double string, yet strong enough to not break? And what kind of threading wire do you use to be able to loop through the rondelle? And how do you manage to "squeeze" them all into the cap and secure it there?

Seriously I would LUV to have some step-by-step guide with links to supplies if you don't sharing! :D

I used 0.3mm nylon thread to string the beads, starting out with one really long strand threaded onto a very fine beading needle. I used 22 gauge 14k wire, wire wrapped loops on either side of the cap. The underside loop to attach the beads and the outer loop will be the attach ring. I basically knotted the nylon thread onto the underside loop in 2.25" sections, thus making the tassel strands. On final knot, I wove the thread around each strand and knotted again. Then I ran the thread through a few beads on one strand and trimmed. I can try to post a tutorial, but it might take me a little while. The cap I used is 15mm wide, and I used 12 strands of beads, so it's pretty tight but allows for movement.

Well you did a brilliant job on that tassel !! I'm still confused as to how you made the strands...is the thread going through the line of stones and then back up around the last bead and up through the line of stones and back to the beginning ? I've seen these but never paid much attention to how they were constructed. How did you sort it out .. is there a You Tube video lol ? Wouldn't surprise me..you can learn to do almost anything on there. Very very impressed !!

And where did you get the finding..it's very nice looking. Did the stones come from that same Etsy seller? They look really pretty !

JerseyPearl that is so interesting. Most caps I've seen so far is not "open" - i.e. it already has the attaching ring on the top side and some attaching mechanism on the under side, so it could be hard to attach enough strands to make the tassel look "full". With an open cap, you can string all the tassel strands in the open attached to a loop on one end and straight wire on the other, the string the wire through and cap it off in the other side by making a wrapped wire loop yes? That's awesome! I can visualize how it is made now.

Katbran, sounds like JerseyPearl figured it out without the help of YouTube tutorials!

Katbran, I learned how to make a beaded tassel at summer camp when I was a kid...surprising how things come back to an ancient mind! Yes, basically it's one very long strand divided into sections. You tie the long strand onto your loop, leaving about 5-6 inches of a tail. Using a needle, thread the beads and pull the string all the way through. Push the beads up to the loop. Skipping the last bead in the row, which becomes your plug, you come up through the beads in each section and knot around the center loop of the tassel cap (had to make one out of the 14k wire). Repeat this until you have enough tassel strands to fit your cap or cone. Mine took 12 strands. Make sure that you measure each strand before you come up through the beads to secure. Mine are at 2.25", length is a personal preference and how many beads you have!! To finish the tassel, take your needle and tie several good knots around the exposed threads. You could use glue to secure, but I was afraid that might make the thread brittle. Pass the needle back through one strand of beads and clip the thread (just like passing back through a pearl after the last knot.) Clip the excess. Take your needle and thread it onto the tail. Tie a few more knots around the loop and then do the same, as before, passing through a few beads and trim the excess.

I am sure there must be a video on this somewhere, but I could only find how to make a thread tassel (Purranha, they look super EASY to make!!!). FYI Rio Grand sells a tassel making gizmo to use with thread. I didn't purchase, but it looks fairly simple to use.

The findings are from GemPacked/Bella. They have tons of designs, with diamonds and silver or CZs and silver.

I made a second tassel in silver, with labradorite stones. They are 3-3.5 mm. I did a prototype drop with my PP tahitian rope (love this strand). I have to find a clasp/enhancer clip that will work with the tassel, so I just played a bit here. IMG_2921.jpgIMG_2918.jpgIMG_2915.jpg

JerseyPearl they look AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like the silver labradorite with the cooler tone Tahitians and the rhodolite garnet with the more peacockie ones.
I think you posted some uber colorful peacocks on another thread that you were thinking of doing Gellner-style with the rhodolite garnet?
Perhaps use them here for the rope instead!
Then you will really be sporting a double tassel rope a la the true Victoria Grayson style!!!
BTW is your rope from PP or Jac or another vendor?

This rope is from PP...from their sale in 2014. The colors are like little Christmas tree lights. I am trying to find the perfect clip for the pearls so I can remove the tassel. All seem to be a bit too wide for use with pearls. I may just use a shortener and put a large eye pin on the top pearl. Or I may decide to string them onto a strand...haven't decided yet!

Wow! Those are amazing, JP! At this point you can quit your job (or part of it) and start selling jewelry!
