So I have been intrigued by the gorgeous harvest strand that ckrickett made a few months back...I have been stashing away pearls, and recently ordered some keshi to complete the project. There is a special clasp in the works, so I will post that when it arrives...but here is the progress thus far...the pearls are temporarily strung on wire with spacers to play with the layout. It measures out at 38.5 inches as strung. IMG_3796.jpgIMG_3797.jpgIMG_3803.jpgIMG_3804.jpg

Now it's time to head down to the beach!

The last shot is with indirect lighting, the others are all in my kitchen with natural and LED lighting.

And the pearls are all from Jacques. Some of the drops were drilled for me, the balance were all drilled this morning. Some of the little keshi were a challenge to drill, but they came out very nicely. I only broke one drill bit, but no pearls were damaged! The order of the stringing is completely random, as is the direction of the points on the pearls. I wanted them to look as if someone scooped them up out from the harvest and threw them on a strand together. My dh remarked, "did you take apart all of your necklaces to make this one? It's really nice!" Uh, huh...

I like that. What bugs me about most harvest strands is pearls that don't seem to go with the rest of the necklace, like one really weeny one and one big honking dull rock. There's definitely a knack to putting these together and I like the combination you've done. What does it look like all stretched out like you would wear it?

Envy, be still! :) Congratulations on being able to make a dream quality harvest strand. Just gorgeous, and a temporary strand neck shot is REQUIRED!

Ooooo JP, what a coil of brilliance and beauty! Love all the colors, shapes, sizes and placement!

Neck shot! Neck shot! Neck Shot (please?)!!!

Thanks for the compliments! I may play with the order a bit, but I really like how it came out. I have a few favorite pearls in this strand...basically it's made from my stash of particularly pretty pearls. There are a handful of almost neon peacocks in the strand, as well as some pretty blues that I've been hoarding. Actually, in my case, this should be called pearl hoarder's strand. Now I'm just waiting on the clasp to finish this one up...and yes, it's Sheri's mermaid and octo that I will be using!

Love the arrangement of your pearly treasures. That clasp should be very fitting :)

Overall I think it looks great . Pearls are lovely . I have one quick thing to ask before I head out the door. When you put a clasp on it , is it you plan to always have it at the back or is it a clasp that you want to show at the front ?
If the latter then you might need to balance out your last inches on either end. It looks like one end has all smaller similar sizes and,the other end larger similar sizes.
If clasp will be at the back I'd trade over some of the smaller ones for the ones at other end . Just to make each 6" end " match" in pattern . That make sense ? I'm typing on the fly here ...

It's going to be fabulous !

Those NEON peacocks are absolutely insane!!! you can spot them from a mile away!!!!!!!! *drool*

This is gorgeous, and a mermaid/octo clasp, gasp?!? Can't wait ...

Jersey pearl the last photo in the first post shows the best of pearls plump and voluptuous.... lovely combo!

Oh my god this is seriously gorgeous! The randomness is perfect, it looks so balanced! Absolutely love it. I hadn't thought of using those big keshi in a harvest strand, what a great idea! I've been hoarding for a while as well, that's a nice way to balance them. Can't wait to see it with the clasp!
