I recently purchased a beautiful pearl necklace with a sterling clasp! The hallmarks are an "S" in a square and a "T" in a clamshell. They are vintage, probably 40 years old or more. Does anyone know if Mikimoto ever used any other letter than an "M" in the clamshell? Thanks!!

Obviously something else has caused you to believe these are Mikis. Please share that with us. The clamshell is used by many makers.

Also its important to note that many/most old strands have been restrung at some point and clasps and pearls do get mixed and matched.

Someone has suggested the "T" stands for Tiffany. I'm not sure how to post a picture so is you want to email me at lisa1115lisa@aol.com, I can send some.

Here I am on my pedantic high horse again - unless the mark(s) were applied by Goldsmith's Hall or other such in the UK they are not hallmarks. They are maker's marks or trademarks. Hallmarks are the marks applied to show the proof of precious metals by a maker's guildhall.
