Hello, I am looking to buy a pair of mikimoto pearl earrings and was wondering if any of you could point me in the right direction to purchasing some in Australia. The only place I have found is...

Unsure if they would be legitimate or honest about the grading. Thank you in advance!

The lovely Mikimoto pearls are matched and graded by the Mikimoto Company itself. Back when I was selling Miki's, appropriate logo tags with the grade were attached to the jewelry pieces before being sent to our stores. Kennedy certainly appears to be a very high-end store and I would think trustworthy. Please be aware of any return policy regarding earrings as in some countries they can't be returned. Will you be able to shop in person? This sounds like an exciting purchase for you!

Thank you for your reply, unfortunately I wont be able to purchase them in person as the store is located in another state. But you're saying they should come with a certificate of authenticity then?

On earrings, you'll find the Mikimoto shell or name on the post, earring nuts, or back of earrings, which will authenticate them as Miki's (per the Mikimoto website). The 750 stamp indicates 18K.

There may be a tag or card which indicates the size and grade of the pearls. Signature packaging, of course. I don't know if there is a formal "Certificate of Authenticity" in addition. You might want to call the store for more information.

Please save your sales receipt and packaging in case you ever decide to sell your earrings.

Thank you for all your support, I have attached photos of the earrings and would love to hear your thoughts on them. Seems they have a rose overtone, I was hoping for silver.

They do have a beautiful pink to them, but a cooler silver would be nice too!

Oh, your earrings have arrived! The luster looks outstanding! This is a large purchase and it sounds like you are disappointed. Yes, the rose' tint is traditional for Mikimoto earrings. They go through bleaching and then a "pinking" process, before being matched and drilled. If you were shopping in person, you might notice slight differences in the overall color from one pair of earrings to another. This is an accepted, known treatment for almost all Akoya pearls produced and sold all over the world. I first learned about this process here on the forum. It doesn't cause damage to the pearls.

Pearl Paradise is one company (in California) I know that carries top-quality "natural white" Akoya. Jeremy, the owner, started this forum!

Some find that when the earrings are worn the slight pink color compliments one's complexion. Are you able to return or exchange the earrings? Perhaps chatting with a Kennedy Sales Associate would be helpful.
