This thread started with "Red Pearls" and I believe that the "Black Winged Oyster" (Pteria penguin) would be able to produce such colors. Our "Rainbow Lip Oyster" (Pteria sterna) can produce "cranberry" and "red" pearls so I would believe some unique specimens of the Japanese would also be able to produce similar colors, and since the size of the P.penguin oyster can be quite large (up to 30 cm in length) it would be a good candidate to produce "large red pearls"... I would look into this...
