Just ordered some Pearllunar pearls...

I ordered some ebay pearls from Pearllunar, kind of an impulse buy. Now I'm wishing I'd asked more about the saturation of the strand and how well it matches the earrings. Even though it's really a play pearl/fashion pearl purchase, I still only like what I like, yanno. Oh, well. (their ebay store is called: pearlluna_pearlsonly)

Rice shaped lavender strand, about 6.5-8.0 mm long, 50 inch- $69

Drop earrings, lavender, about 8x11 mm- 39$

Free shipping from China, so $109 for the set. We shall see. I'll post a pic here when I get them. If that works out, gee, I'll have the freshwater whites, blacks, greys, pinks, peaches and lavenders. I do believe I'll be ready to graduate to more of the saltwater pearls. Shouldn't I receive a diploma or something? :p

Anybody have stuff from them?

I haven't bought from them before, but I've seen some good reports of them on the forum so I decided to take the plunge with a necklace and earrings also:

The necklace is 6.0-7.0 mm pearls, so quite small, but I just couldn't resist that lustre/orient/iridescence or whatever you call it! I'll post pics when they arrive.

I have purchased from them before, and what I thought I had purchased were exactly what I was sent and received, very honest in their descriptions and reliable IMHO.

DK :)

I have purchased from Pearllunar in the past. I particularly liked the shape of their freshwater drop pairs. I just wore my pale pink drop pair the other day. They don't have very high luster, but the shape is so yummy. The price was great and the descriptions were accurate. I believe mine were described as having soft luster.

I had my local jeweler make them into drops to wear with my diamond (or just about any other) studs.

I just took a look at the current Pearllunar listings on eBay, and I see they have a lot more metallics than they had a few years ago. I'm looking forward to your report, Sea Urchin.

I got my stuff today. I'll take a photo in daylight tomorrow. I love the earrings, very purple and metallic. I emailed Pearllunar about the necklace though, and I'm waiting for their reply. The pearls are very shiny but the color is too light, I'm just not crazy about them. I said I would like to exchange them for some deeper colored lavender ones, or if they don't have any, exchange them for the peach ones. If they don't have the peach ones, then I requested a refund. I know a lot of people would consider rice pearls more play pearls, but I realized I do like them especially with very casual clothes, shorts or capris, for just that reason. I have never done a return to China before. so we shall see. :)

Those are pretty drops, Red, and I love what you did with them.

Did you get your goodies yet, Magpie?

I'm sending the necklace back for a refund, I'll let y'all know what it costs. He said the peach ones are light, too.

Pearl Lunar Purchase

Pearl Lunar Purchase

Here are mine, although the photo isn't the best. The earrings are a nice purple and shiny. The necklace is also very shiny, but light.

That's too bad that you have to return it. They look quite pretty on your picture even though I agree that they look different from the original picture pearllunar provided. But pearls are very hard to take picture of, I found that most of the time they look different from the picture.

Try, try again... aka slow learner?

Thanks for the replies. The earrings look like pearl lunar's photo rather than mine. It really is hard to get an accurate photo. Neither the strand nor earrings look brownish like my photo shows.

So now I continue my quest for inexpensive-ish lavender pearls. I've had good and bad luck with Overstock (the biggest problem is their strands tend to break easily). Still, it is not a bad place to try, for play pearls. From the comments, it sounds like these are not dyed, but the listing doesn't say. I ordered four, figured I'd keep the best two and make one longer strand from it, since they are under $40 a strand. They are listed as 9-10mm but from the comments, they may be smaller, and the strand is 18 inches. By the time I'm done here I'll probably pay the difference in return postage anyway and wish I didn't worry so much about the price. But, since I do not have a job right now, mustn't annoy He Who Pays the Bills toooo much, yanno. :p

I don't see any pearl shows etc. around here, which seems strange in a city as large as Houston. Anyone know anything on that?

Here we go again. I'll post pics when they arrive, either way. Also, they call them "lilac." Have y'all noticed any difference in what "lavender" pearls are called? When they're not called "lavender," my first thought is the seller doesn't specialize in pearls, but that's just a guess.

Sea Urchin - Ouch on the return postage.

Thanks to your thread I was checking Pearllunar and noticed that they had a couple pair of 9 mm round goldens that I have been looking for. I ordered this pair, and I am hoping that they are as dark as they appear. I am planning on pearl stud earrings.
