Is this a Pearl? Found on a Beach

Hi I found this shell in a rock pool on the beach. Is the white thing inside a pearl? It's attached to the shell.

yes the oyster you found has a blister pearl this is a pearl that forms stuck to the shell.

Pattye's suggestion is a good one. As well as the blister, there are several other extrapallial formations from polydora worms.

There's not much gem quality there, but it's definitely a curiosity and a good find.

Thank you dmj - I did think it may be a pearl, but wasn't sure because it was stuck to the shell - now I have a name for it "blister pearl" & why it's the way it is Yes pattye, I will be keeping it as it is .. I was looking for unusual stones & saw this - much more interesting than any stones I've found
