Is this a Good Deal?

I recently found a very nice strand of white Akoya pearls 16" unstrung for $177 plus tax. Based on the current price of pearls that sold this past year, when the article I read said that Akoya pearls had gone up so much, is this a good price for the pearls. They are 7.75mm consistent measure, very few nacre pilings, good round shape, nice bright white and good luster. Please advise...sounded like a very nice price to me. It is a seller I have worked with many times before. These are "new old stock."

It almost sounds too good to be true. A little googling shows the lowest current price for 7.5 mm akoya necklace is in the $750 range. Make sure you can return them if you don't like them. If you do like them, it's an incredibly good deal.

I agree with BWeaves. Sounds way too low for nice Akoyas. I ditto the make sure you can return idea.

This Ebay seller is someone I've done business with for a long time. He is a retired jeweler and is selling off his "old stock" in his retirement. He also has many used pieces that I've purchased and re-worked. He does take returns, but based on my history with him and the photos I think I've found another great deal. I purchased them and look forward to doing something fun with them.

The back of the price tag reads $1,950! I'm guessing that is the jewelry's store's price, but WOW. Now I've to to start searching for a worthy clasp.

Yes, seller admitted they were lesser quality in the description.

Definitely! It's a good strand to be creative with!
