image.jpg Hello got this beautiful but no so perfect 10-14MM Baroque Golden South Sea Pearl whith 14k white Gold clap. Now my only concern is the deep open marks that show some of the white stone. I bought this from website of tv shows.will have them appraisal and hope they actually be GSSP. Right now I am half happy.

Carmin, Welcome to Pearl-Guide.

Your necklace looks lovely!

You think you can see the bead nucleus in some of the pearls? I wonder if it is just the color of the nacre there. Sometimes in Tahitians one can see white in some of the divots or grooves, yet it is not the bead, it's just the color of the nacre.

Yes they are beautiful!

Caring for pearls isn't complicated, really.

1. Store them by themselves away from other jewelry or anything else that could scratch them. Nacre is soft and can be scratched by metal prongs, other gemstones, etc.

2. Put on your pearls last, after applying hair products or cosmetics. Perfume, hair spray, and lotions are all bad for nacre.

3. When you take them off, wipe them with a soft clean cloth before putting them away. You can also dampen your hand and run it loosely over the pearls before wiping them dry, if you were wearing lotion or if it was a hot sweaty day.

4. Restring them when the knots begin to look dirty or there are gaps between the pearls. Silk is weakened by wetness, skin oils, and general grime. Many of us do our own restringing, and there are tutorials on the Lowly Beaders forum.

Welcome, and your pearls have a lovely color. The photo is a bit out of focus, so I cannot really see what you are referring to in your comments. Is it possible to take another photo using indirect lighting and in better focus?

I am terrible taking pictures; this is the best I can doimage.jpgimage.jpg

I use my pearls daily but I have notice during the hot summer days I need to wear pendants or chain pearls because of sweat. I am still looking for the perfect desing to wear during the summer.

Thanks everyone for your response. I look forward to read and learn more about pearls on this site.
