Hi! I've inherited this beautiful pearl necklace, maybe someone can help me figure out what type of pearls these are?

Hi pattye,

unfortunately the only information i have is what i see :) the clasp is marked with 14 k and next to the 14 there is a symbol which i don't recognize. The pearls are white but the photo does change their color a bit. The necklace is 18 inches long.

Thank you for helping me!!

Hello again,

So, the pearls are very round, approx 68 smaller pearls, approx 6.5mm, so would likely be cultured akoya pearls.

Silk is stretched, so would be good to have restrung before wearing.

Solid gold 14k fish hook style clasp is also indication of quality.

Do the pearls feel slightly gritty when you gently rub two together? If yes, that would support my feeling that these are cultured pearls, as opposed to imitation pearls. The hesitation I have is that they appear very white in color.

A lovely inherited piece of jewelry. I hope you will wear and enjoy your pearls. You might want to read the section on pearl care. You will want to avoid chemicals such as perfume and hairspray.
