Hong Kong

It's such a small pearl world ..I've run into so many people . Had many meals and shared lots of taxis with Betty Sue King , got great advice when I was dithering over strands . Ran into folks from home , Adelaide , who have a fashion pearl business . Jeremy popped up all over - he cracks me up ..he's like the energiser bunny . If he told me he was starting up Pearl Airlines I wouldn't be surprised..I can see the logo ..strands of pearls wrapping around the tail and along the side. Cees ..he was everywhere as well ..I think I ran into him at least a dozen times ! He is such a lovely man - we visited many pearl stands together. I even found Wendy filming him sorting pearls and looking very intense . I think she was putting it on her site. I only filmed lots of pink saphires ...a whole case full of PINK ! Then I went to the Gem hall ... it's hard to explain..booths specialising in Emeralds, rubies , Blue Saph , Orange , yellow , tanzanite...you name the gem and there is s booth . Diamonds have there own hall ..a SERIOUS wall of 20ct plus stones .... I just stood and laughed . It was ridiculous..wonderful but ridiculous! Emeralds of 20mm x16mm ... sigh . I wish I could have taken a photo ..but they are a bit sensitive..guards everywhere. I returned to the hot but friendly pearl hall .

I can see the attachments if I click on them. (The golden SS keshi are amazing!)
Here they are:

The gold ss keshi are divine looking! O_O

I agree JP, the painted pearls are very unusual! The first painted pearl right under the tahitian keshis had caught my eye.

Those are painted pearls? OMG, I thought they were inlaid with gold and gems. Phew!

Hello Katbran !
A question : how to know if gems are true, selled on these places ? More than two thirds of gems selled in the world are false, the first to product them is Asia... and, when I see shape and colour regularity of a lot... I have doubts...

Oh, Katbran I love those GSS keshi ... that top strand would look divine worn with my harvest rope! Thanks for the photos :)

PD to the rescue ! Thank you !!

Jp - I think if you were careful in how they were used ..dangle earrings..then they would be fine ..I think.. there was a whole counter full !

Abi- they were really amazing !

Ericw- I don't buy gems from the show. I know nothing about them . If I buy a gem I buy from some of the gem cutters online who know what they have. and declare treatments. There is also a site Wildfishgems - some people here have bought from him . His stones are apparently all untreated.

BW - there was a language issue but they did look painted. I'm going back for a few hours before going to the airport..I'll see if I can find them again lol but they look painted. Very very pretty. Just not sure how durable.

Thanks kalmen! I've not taken as many photos as I usually do , I've just been so busy! But I'm glad you have enjoyed them.
Thanks Cathy - they were remarkable ! Best I saw!

They're great Katbran! Hope you have fun there!! (and enjoy the coffee :) )

Thanks George ! I've had three decent coffees here - two at the No1 Coffee Company , on Nathan and the other when Betty Sue King took me out for Bacon and Eggs at Deli France . You know how important coffee is George ! We Australians are a bit fussy ! Lol

Good stuff. ;)
Thank you ! Sorry I didn't get to meet you at the show - I left Saturday afternoon having spent most of the day sorting out shipping - which kept changing as I kept buying. Next time :)

PD and Newberry - They were quite amazing - no marks on them and such great colour-large as well , I didn't measure them but they looked to be around 4-5mm x 14mm. Rough guess. But the size was certainly reflected in the price $$$$$$

It's never enough time to see everyone you want to. I just saw Sarah and her friend at the airport while I was waiting for a friend from Japan. I also spent the morning with Brady. We took a side trip out to Stanley village. He hadn't had a chance to do some exploring and I hate it when people come here and miss out on some of the sites. So I went into tour guide mode. We had a good time. He is off to LA and I never did find my friend from Japan. But I will. We will meet next time. Looking forward to it. Cheers!
