Hello all,

I recently inherited these 2 pearl pieces and I have no knowledge regarding pearls. I do know they are real pearls but I don’t know what kind or what they might be worth. The clasp on the necklace is stamped with a capital cursive H and 14k. I’d greatly appreciate any information ablnyond might be able to give me.

Please take some close ups of the pearls in the strands and the clasp, including the back and please do it on a white paper towel or piece of white paper. Preferably in indirect natural light. :)

The pendant/charm is probably not especially valuable, other than for the gold. Sorry.

Pearl virgin!

Pearl virgin!

I am reposting my pearls now that I have read the directions:)

I recently inherited these pearls from my grandmother and I know absolutely nothing about pearls. I have been told they are real by a jeweler but that’s about it. I believe they were probably purchased in the 60’s or 70’s. The class has a capital cursive H next to the 14k. Could someone tell me what kind of pearls they are and possibly their worth?

Thanks in advance!

The pendant looks like a "mother's charm" where the gemstones are the birthstones of the children. It also looks like some of the pearls fell out and were replaced with other pearls that don't match in size or color. They are akoya pearls.

If the necklace has real pearls, they are very well matched, probably akoya. They almost look too well matched, and my first thought was imitation pearls. Can you give us a close up of some of the pearls, on a white paper towel? That would show us the surface texture of the pearls, so make sure the photos are in focus.

I absolutely love the charm...such a whimsical feel to it! I'd put it on a gold chain and wear it as a pendant...as others have said, not incredibly valuable, but something you might wish to keep close to your heart.

As far as the strand of pearls, they are in need of a good cleaning and restring. My first reaction is that they are akoya. But I will also add, I absolutely love that clasp. It has such a late 70s-early 80s feel about it.

I agree, a good cleaning and restringing would really bring out their beauty.

Did the jeweler say if the gems in the clasp on the strand are diamonds? If so the carat weight and quality of the stones?

They tested all the diamonds and they are real. They did not give me the weight but they said the Diamonds were beautiful.
