Heading to Greenhills in Manila in a few hours for pearls. Suggestions?

I didn't mean to sound so discouraging. It's just that if you want to have a pearl business, you can get pearls cheaper right here in the US. The only benefit I see from buying at Greenhills is that you could possibly subsidize your family's travel by taking it off on your taxes. ;)

Thanks Caitlin and GemGeek. You did not sound discouraging at all :) Regarding getting the pearls for less in the US is that 1:1 (in general) for the same quality (and I presume we are talking about Chinese freshwater pearls?)?

I like the idea of selling to friends, but what is a trunk show? If it has to do with me modeling pearls in my swimming trunks I am afraid the whale like whiteness of my belly might strongly block out any luster the pearls have! :)

Hi AlumCreek3,

Sorry I missed this thread! I haven't been able to visit PG for a week. In case you or your wife will visit Greenhills in the future, I'd be glad to help and haggle for you. My work schedule is quite swamped but anything for pearl lovers :)

LOL! A trunk show is like a Tupperware party, but for your pearls. Find someone to host it that has access to a lot of people they can invite. Pack your "trunk" and take over and set up. If you get sufficiently desirable pearls, you can probably sell them. they will cost much less than going to a brick and mortar place that sells pearls.

You can't do better than going pearl shopping with Perlas. Be sure to do that before making up your mind.

Sam- my favorite Latin freshwater pearl phrase! (From the unio (fw pearl mussel) come many things). Glad you put it to use!
