Giant Abalone Pearl

It's magnificent, Jeremy. Where did you find it?

Well, I did not find it personally ;) A friend brought it in. He also brought some of the larges Pteria naturals I have ever seen. One had to be near 60 carats, with one side that had the most intense orient I had ever seen on one. We are just photographing them for a potential book together. We have been photographing rare pieces for that purpose for nearly a year now.

Can't wait to see the book. I do hope it gets published in the not too distant future. That would be a must have.

New Zealand's Laminate

New Zealand's Laminate

Nice idea to write a book Jeremy - will be a best seller.
Richard at Ocean Shell does a fantastic job with his Laminate.
He cuts Jandels, thongs or whatever one calls them for
us as a Tourist Gift. Cats wear them two.
Ocean Shell web is www.paua.com and he has an American
Distributor www.matrix-z.com. Hope this helps somebody. Jandel Forum.jpg

I still want the cat!
Peter - amazing use of the laminates! My favourite is the cabinet inserts... very chic.

Ah, just when I think I can't see anything more impressive than all the fabulous photos in this thread, the NZ jewelry spokes-model takes the cake!

We call those sandals "flip-flops" here in Southern California. ;)

Oh, where is the giant paua shell? Octavia wants a photo taken in it, preferably with her friend Roger Beattie...

Steve, how 'bout that for piano keys????
This would be a piano custom built for Timothy Leary, right?

Regarding P Bazar's photos of mab?s, laminates, etc (and one horn), I am scratching my head regarding relevance to the mentioned cache of natural abalone pearls from the south island? I'm traveling and not reading the posts minutely and perhaps missed something.

LOL -- Sometimes you just have to go with the thread-flow, even when it becomes a pictorial version of "stream-of-consciousness". ;)

The photos in this thread have been some of the most fun ever!
