Hahaha...I was thinking that pearl looked kinda like a thumb. BUT, that is a beautiful piece of jewelry, just not really my taste.

I like the idea. Unfortunately, I don't think conch pearls make for the best "body". The smaller ones look nice, though.

I think it's a beautiful brooch but agree that the body reminds me of a hot dog too. I think a lustrous white tube shaped pearl instead would solve the problem

I was thinking that same something else, but I typed hot dog.

My second thought was finger.

Basically, the center body needs some eyes, antenna, maybe some gold wire criss crossing the back.
Something, anything to keep it from looking like a detached body part.

This designer had quite the challenge. How would one showcase such a unusual pearl?

I have no idea how to showcase this pearl. Its shape and color are, um, challenging. I wonder how big the pear is in real life.

Unfortunately, I'm looking at a blown up photo on a huge monitor and the thing is the size of a hot dog. I'm sure in real life it's only a few mms in each direction, which would take away the severed body part feeling, maybe.

Neverminding the body part issue, the entire design is a big fat "no" for me. Stylistically, it reminds me of gaudy 80's jewelry...

The designer could have just gone with the "hot dog" theme, made an enameled bun, hung it as a charm, skipped the gems.
