First Beading Project Ever

New pearl/lampwork rosebud necklace, plus the one from yesterday in better light. Sometimes I think I do it because I like taking and uploading pics.

Thanks guys ... I've now run out of stuff to string apart from a run-of-the-mill rope. Need more pearls. I've got 10 strands of lampwork beads coming in, and at least 5 that I don't have the pearls to string with. It's an affliction ...

Raison, it never comes out even----------!!

So you can knot beading wire? I might get some in next time then ... serves as a backup if I have to redo any. The diameters are bigger than 10lb power pro though. Do you still use double strands?

I only place a knot at the end of the strand as a just in case so that if anything were to cause the clasp to come off, the strand would remain intact. So I string the necklace, place a half knot, cover it with a bead and then crimp the clasp on. I think there are fine strands of beading wire that you can crochet, so you could probably knot them, but for me, I don't want to know unless the knots are part of the look. I am not a knotter as a first choice, only if the pearls warrant that look. Also, how do you guys handle that gimp stuff? I strung a necklace yesterday, finished it with gimp and by time I had placed the clasps it was all crinkly and messy looking so I had to cut off the crimps and restring using a wire cover. Also it kind of bothered me that I was finishing a necklace that had 14k white gold as the findings and beads with a base metal, silver colored ending. Am I missing something? I know I am because they look really good on others' pieces. It's probably a patience thing.

Raison, Once you start there's no going back, and Pattye is right, it NEVER comes out even. I get strands of gems, and I need more pearls, then I need more findings. I place an order go to work and realize that I'm out of something and have to reorder, it doesn't help that I am not an orderly person! plus a full time job and a family. I keep reaching for findings and reminding myself that the Tahitians are on the way (pray, God) and I need to not use everything up. Then there's the website to keep up with, and the farmer's market on Sat. that needs new items, and of course PG that keeps me away from everything!!! But, feeds my soul. I just loaded some keshi/reborn loose strands onto my website if you want to take a look at the endlesssssss possibilities. Sorry for the double post, I got behind.

Don't ask me why I did it, but I had nothing else left to string ... really need more pearls. And findings. But I will never do it again. Ever. 70" 6-7mm dyed freshwater goldens.

It was a complete nightmare. I measured out the powerpro, then mistakenly cut the 30lb rather than 10lb I meant to be using. So I restrung it onto it. Halfway through the 10lb I realized it wasn't strong enough so I had to redo it with the 20lb. It was horrible trying to get it back into such small pearls when I ended the loop. And by the end of it I was standing up to get the strung portion into the knot loop. I call it weight training.

Oh I sympathize! My rope was only 42", but 117 knots later, I felt like a wrung-out dishrag! I can only imagine how you felt after finishing a 70" strand.

And findings! It is appalling how much one can spend on findings, and how tiny the package is in which they arrive. I often have to wait to string my beads until I can afford to buy more wire and findings.

Addicted.

Yes, definitely addicted.
Notice how you persevered, even after mucking it up a couple of times and it turning into a complete nightmare ?
Yeah, addicted.
And that rope is fabulous Raison.....
More and more I wear ropes these days, and I love 'em.
Congrats. to you, as all your pieces are beautiful. :)

I have just seen Raison's beautiful rope in the flesh, and it is indeed beautiful. As are her other pieces. And guess what? We are all correct - she is ADDICTED!!
