We are drilling souffl? pearls this weekend creating pieces for our annual Black Friday event. Some of them are dry, others are ready to pop! This one started shooting out like a worm.

A funny side note, we were discussing different ways to speed up the cleaning process, especially for pearls we only wanted to half drill, and decided to try a small hypodermic needle. Never having purchased one before I went to the local CVS. I explained what we were trying to do to the pharmacist and could tell by the look on his face he seemed very skeptical. He asked me to wait a few minutes, disappeared in the back, and came back out with a paper bag wrapped up. He whispered that he would just give me some.

I know he thinks I have a needle stuck in my arm right now:p

LOL, Jeremy! I've been doing this for several years now. The natural colored keshi will often have a nasty odor, so... I inject hydrogen peroxide with an insulin syringe and the organic matter kind of bubbles out :) This often requires several "injections" then a good rinse with water and then leave to air dry. If still stinky, I repeat :) (good thing I've known my pharmacist for years and she just laughed at me)

amazing that such yuck comes from such prettyness.
do you have a top way of getting the needle through the souffles when knotting them? I found that holding them vertically on the needle and just sort of dropping them tended to get the needle through the second hole, rather than jiggling around horizontally, which is the normal way to hold them. But it is a right faff though, even then. Double pay and lavender essential oil for anyone doing knotting of souffles

Pattye, I use the H2O2 full strength when injecting inside the pearls. If you are going to use it to clean a wound, then it is important to dilute it half strength with water or it will "burn" the skin!

Pearl poop! You need to take that photo to the pharmacist at CVS as evidence of your need for more needles - tell him they're just the right size for pearl enemas.

I can just hear all the groans, shrieks and hollering...poor fings!

(Oh no - that's me:eek:. And I'm not there. Ewwwwwwww. Poor fings... PearlPoopPremium Pay?)

Speaking from a dental hygiene perspective; Water Piks are great.

Psst.. You are looking in the wrong place

Advice from horse country- The farmers co-op and the horse feed stores carry needles and syringes. In very large sizes, on open shelves in the regular aisles. Need a 60 cc syringe with a curved tip for irrigation of big nasty wounds? Got it. Want one with a catheter tip? Got that, too. How about a regular tip? Lots to choose. Some even have easy to use loops for your fingers, so they don't slip when your are working on a horse that is going up to the rafters in protest.

Maybe I need to bring you a "care" package, when I come to P.P. or Tuscon, heh, heh, heh!;):D

You can also get syringes that are designed for women's small hands. Here is one from an online retailer. It is designed for repeated use and you can get replacement "O" rings and rubber parts. It takes a variety of different needles, including the very large bore ones. The needles can be disposable, aluminum, and very sturdy.

It is fun to explore this section, too. For the wild and dangerous pearl, you might consider the gun mounted syringe dart. The long pole dart might be useful for those odoriferous souffles that reek like a dead body at a crime scene.

Just think of the possibilities! Jeremy could get the holster for his syringe dart and swagger into that C.V.S. like an old time cowboy in a Western movie... That would brighten the pharmacist right up!

whicker, that is beyond awesome.

I'm cleaning three half-drilled souffles now. These buggers are little cannons. Someone should have warned me to use an apron. And a mask. :(

How do you know when it's all clean inside?
