Etsy seller being scammed by supplier?

thanks for pointing that out. I will revise it again. I realised I kind of neglected that line just when you mentioned it. I did purchase it from the Southern islands of the Philippines though. They do sell a lot of pearls there.

Pearlessence, I must say I really think the pearls I got were beautiful. And unlike a lot of people here, I am not really selling pearls big time. I happened to just buy a bunch of strands because they were beautiful. And I had the supplier describe to me what they were. I have like about 6 strands of other pearls from my last vacation, others are all freshwaters, and I haven't posted them yet because well, I really wasn't in any rush to sell it. The others I just may keep for myself. I was really doing this just as a hobby.

LaurenB though introduced me to this website, so I will get most of my info from here to learn more about pearls.

"Baby South Sea" as a sales gimmick is definitely used at Greenhills Mall and on eBay. All I have seen are actually freshwaters too.

She has changed the text on her strand of CFWP in the first link. But the tags are not changed from SSP to CWFP.

She is just another customer duped by Filipino scams, oops, I meant "sales techniques". The pearls are always are always CFWP from China, no matter what is said about them by those pearl scoundrels.

Etsy is not Ebay and many members are new to buying their components and/or marketing their wares. Etsy is a safe place to learn this kind of lesson. I say cut her some slack; that is a lesson many newbies on this forum have learned the hard way.

I think I have been taken in by the South Seas at Greenhills. They didn't call them "Baby" but after being on this forum for awhile they probably are FWCP. But even so they are gorgeous so I have to accept I was dubbed and be content with the pretty pearls.

Ok, this is a little off topic so I do apologize. I am a glutten for punishment and heading back to Greenhills in a couple of weeks. What should I be looking for there? Are there good pearls? Any help would be appreciated from you and those that have been there.

I haven't been there. I have more than two confirmed sources from other forum members and I am passing along what they learned.

Learn the prices for the sizes you want for larger CFWP's and also learn the prices for genuine SSP's and Tahitians. and when you get a SS claim with a freshwater price, you know you probably have a freshwater.

Don't listen to the sellers' sales raps and pick really beautiful pearls and assume they are CFWP.

Maybe others who have really been there can chime in.

I agree, if you get a SS price with a FW price, then maybe they are FW (hey I'm getting a hang of your abbreviations). Regardless if they were Greehils or Davao. I think I was too excited that I got SS at that price. And really, I didn't care. They were so beautiful and heavy (somehow I like it when they're heavier). SS or FW... they were still stunning.

That is a great price for 13mm freshwaters.

The larger they get, the more likely they are to have reduced luster. The look and weight of such pearls makes them wonderful to wear.

Really round with good luster will cost considerably more- like over a thousand $$, which is still a deal compared to SSP's.

I think I did not explain correctly who Perla is. She is a pearlfriend of mine, a PGer as well but she is not a seller. Anyway if You can get together with her, she certainly could be a great help for you as she knows the local sellers at Green Hill (Manila) for example and is very good at bargaining. She is a pearl lover, very knowledgable and You should have a lot to talk about...
