Because of economical times, it is simple to make adjustment
for instance this ring : Forum 5 Pearl with Gold.jpg
Over a half a ct of pearl, 18ct Yellow Gold shots
and concaved for pearl ,set in silver has been redesigned
into thisForum 5 Pearl -silver.jpg
By removing the 18ct yellow gold reflectors we save
around $100 this cuts the price by a third, from
$350.00 down to $250.00 with only minimizing the
design by a fraction.

Very interesting! Love the design! I assume those are all abalone paua pearls?

Economical Ring - Natural Abalone Pearls

Thanks for pointing this out. Yes they are natural abalone
pearls. We are probably one of rarest operations
left in the world, still working daily with naturally
formed pearls. Some days I take it for granted, as
I did today, by not pointing out, that unique point.

What is the texture, is it all silver?

In fact I like the second design even better. I think pearls are mounted there in a more stable way.

Lovely designs, I prefer the first one where the pearls are set within the little craters, the design is more polished and complete.

Very pretty and thanks for thinking of us broke folks!

The NZNP gallery shows fine jewelry in gold... might you consider a foray into industrial metals, like steel and titanium?

It seems like these metals have such potential in terms of durability, shine and relative cost, but few designers proficient in fine jewelry design work with them. Is this because high melting points and other technical differences mean fabrication isn't worth it for a limited number of pieces?

Thanks for the nice comments - I will answer all.
Firststly, the top ring was sold off the forum - Yeh

The pearl and the mountain is a really wonderful piece. Very creative!

Very nice ! I like pendant #1. The contrast works well against the black basalt rock.

Basalt rock is lava rock. Using that as a marketing term might be appealing. I love those pendants. I'd love to work with lava rock from here, but it is considered very kapu (taboo) and bad luck to remove lava rock from Hawaii. Maybe I need to get some from New Zealand!
