Hey everyone, excited to join the community!

I’m looking for some guidance on pearl shopping for my love. I wanted to get her a loose pearl for our anniversary and after hours and hours of research settled on conch pearls. I was having a lot of trouble looking for something in budget that seemed reputable and ended up finding a few on ebay. I was ready to make an offer but I read something on here about conch pearls getting faked via carving from a shell or reshaped after harvest.

The seller is “the flame natural conch pearls,” they ship from Bogota and I liked these pieces:

They’ve also got a real nice looking 1.9 ct with great color and flame that is a little less round.

The prices seem a little too good to be true but they look legit, I am very much a novice though so I’m hoping someone here can provide feedback on their impressions. I know it’s hard to be sure from an online listing and I’m still just getting to know some of the industry red flags and I want to get this gift right. I want to gift her the journey of getting a one of a kind pearl to do whatever she wants with.

I was also looking at the sites “La Corser” and “Aloha Pearls,” not sure if anyone has purchased from them but I can make a separate thread about it.

Thanks so much for any feedback provided, it means the world to me!

The problem with eBay is that it is eBay, if you see what I mean. For something like this, I would buy from a trusted seller. I don't know anything about the ones you mention. On eBay, I know vivianwill (theGemBee on Etsy), DruzyDesign, Agustes-collection, PearlSociety, and YakotaPearls. I've also bought from Pearl Paradise, Kojima, and Pearls of Joy, the Pearl House (on Etsy, except I don't think they're there any more). Also on Etsy, pearlzaustralia, Pacific Pearls (who also have their own website), OceanRhyme, Simplyadorned4U, OceansCove, KongsPearl, and WenPearls. That's by no means a complete list, and my apologies to anyone I've forgotten! I'm thinking of who might have conch pearls... You might contact one or more of the above, who often have more in stock than is shown on their websites.

I ended up jumping the gun and ordered the 3 I posted, they just arrived yesterday. I can post some photos when I have a chance to take them without spoiling the surprise gift. They do look really nice, a little smaller than I had expected but I am new to thinking in millimeters.
