Can you please tell me about these pearls?

Picked up these black pearls secondhand for $15. Clasp reads FIC 14k. Can you please give me some info as a pearl novice? Thank you in advance.

That is a strand of dyed freshwater pearls from China. They are solid nacre (no bead nucleus inside to make them round) so they will be very durable, and the dye is permanent. You got a nice wearable necklace.

As Pearl Dreams said, it's a strand of dyed freshwater pearls, potato shape and good luster. $15 is an ok price for it, you might need to restrind it tho if it's 2ndhand.

FIC might be the manufacturer of the clasp. If the clasp is 14K gold, it's probably worth more than the pearls. You got a good deal on the price of the necklace. Enjoy wearing it.
