Can u tell menif these are fake

Hi these are approx 40 years old they were my mums can you

tell me if they are fake as I think they are I have never cleaned them and never saw mum wear them they just been in the box any thanks

Hello Sperry...wow...interesting finds!
The box with the "Mikymoto" brand name in it...wow...just so interesting.
I would really, really need to see them up close...it is hard to give you an answer with these because they seem as if damaged.

I would love to see more and better photos, especially near the drill hole.

I believe that the strand is made with imitation pearls. I could very well see the "peeling" paint. Unmistakable.
The brooch...not sure yet.

Agree on the strand. It's fake. The color is super strange and you can see the layer peeling off.
Did you check what the broche is made of? Is it real gold or not? Even if the two pearls are Akoya (saltwater pearls) the value of the gold would be much higher than the pearls. If the broche is not made from solid gold, the pearls could easily be imitation. If you wash them gently, you can try to gently rub one of the pearls against your teeth. Genuine pearls will slightly gritty and imitation pearls will feel smoother. You can also try with a loupe. Enlarged, real pearls will look smooth and fake pearls less smooth.

I believe I can kind of read "STERLING" on the brooch.

They look like imitation pearls to me, and they have not aged well. It's hard to know if the clasp is really sterling, but you could try dipping it in TarnX, since the clasp is no longer attached to the pearls.

Brooch looks like a stylized Treble clef that’s lost its top part, as well as lost some pearls...and a couple of eighth notes. Interesting.
