Can this vintage tahitian ring be saved?

Surprise! This, or similar to Adeline's, available from Stuller. http://www.stuller.com/products/sh38/?groupId=52177 They have a few simpler styles also. Probably used mostly on wedding rings, but at a few hundred bucks, plus jewelers labor not completely unaffordable.

Personally, I think figuring out what "name" to search for when looking for a certain item is the tricky part.

Well done! I totally agree, trying to find an item when you don't know the industry name for it is very frustrating...you know what you want..you know its out there..but finding it... arrggghhhh! so again, Well done Pattye!

And Adeline, what a find! You are a very brave girl to roll the dice like that..I wouldn't have the nerve! But really interesting ring so you did well :) I'm sure you'll be able to come up with the perfect pearl - post the photo when you find it :D

Oh I will, Kat, I will :)

I'm also hoping more and more will post pics on their pearl rings. I love seeing those designs! There's also something very calming about rubbing the orb of a pearl when one is stressed, like meditation beads, I guess.

This is one of my very favorite rings, which I obtained from Sarah and Kojima. Would this kind of pearl work? :)

Queen Conch and collection of fine pearls

My ring is a baby version of your big-girl princess ring. Here is a similar one from Sarah's website so you can see the side view:

BTW, the strands are big baroque akoyas.

Yay, pictures from the best photog in town! Lovely rings, lovelier pearls... DROOL. The rippled texture of those Kasumis is a perfect match with the matte textured gold it's set in.

PS: Do I have your permission to take your pics and submit them to Danielle from Gem Gossip? Trying to do a pearl themed thing for her Show me Your Rings (see the "Show Me Your Ring Bling" thread).

I'm going to take out the stash and start imagining possibilities...

Go for it. I took the first photo. The second one is by Sarah and I'm betting that she would love to share her photo.

I don't think it is rude to post the prices, Adeline. It helps us newbies calibrate what things cost.

Thanks, Louise, for affirming that.

PG is not somewhere you want to boast, you know what I mean. I mean, yes, in a way you do want to show it off, but more so for collective sharing and validating the prices a consumer has paid on something.

But thought I'd be careful nonetheless as nobody wants to gain a reputation for being a preening peacock.
