The sea pearls cultured in Sabah (South China Sea) water are not always round.

Like what Paul said, come to Sabah to witness everything Paul told you. I am in no way related to Paul but we live in the same country and in the same state. I know what he is talking about. While many of you condemn him, I am shaking my head here thinking you guys are missing it big time. But it's hard to put the blame on ignorance alone. I applaud what Paul was trying to do, to get Sabah Pearl the recognition it highly deserves because of its quality.

Just come to Sabah if you don't believe us. The people here will laugh at this thread if they ever got to read this.

When an apple is an apple, it will never be a grapefruit. Nice try though.

Edward Kong has for many years a South Sea pearl farm in Sabah and the harvest is sold in his shop in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia

funny, the website is gone too! at least I cannot access it anymore. :p

Plot twist! Tell us more, Cees - I'm glad this thread has been revived. I know more about the industry than I did back then, but still want to learn more.

MSC please Google Edward Kong Kuala Lumpur to get a better impression

All I know is that when I was in Kuala Lumpur Aquarium the souvenir shop there sells natural colors and dyed freshwater pearl jewelry. And they claim the pearls are cultured in Borneo. I have my doubts!

The dispute was with misrepresentation. It's too bad you can't see that terrible web site. :)

That was my reading of the thread as well GemGeek. I don't remember reading this one before but now that its been resurrected it seems as though he was selling Freshwater as SouthSea. We know that this is often a problem in KL ... I have friends who returned with 'South Sea ' necklaces that were just nice big Fireball pearls. It sounds to me like he bought pearls that were misrepresented and didn't want to believe he'd been scammed.

Thanks for the info Cees...you know everyone !!!
