I just reread this thread and laughed again too.
Eastern VA. 300 year old pearl family.
My guess is Roy is based at Norfolk or wherever, Quantico.... and got the pearls when stationed in the ME. Maybe on an r&r to Dubai or the UAE, where they sell freshwater pearls to tourists and service men in places like Greenhills mall in Manila. They sell cultured pearls from China- except in Bahrain, where such gross entities as cultured pearls, are illegal. I have seen photos taken in showrooms around the Persian gulf with every kind of freshwater pearls you will find in the tents behind the Big Shows at the Traveling Gem and Mineral Shows.
I think he will confront the seller when he is back over there. I really do hope we hear some updates!
