and so it begins

Definitely get a couple of inexpensive but nice looking pearls. Go look at Wen on Etsy. Find something that you think you'd wear..maybe some ripple pearls ? You don't want to completely waste your money on rubbish and then toss them. May as well practice on something inexpensive but fun...that you would actually wear.. If by chance then you find you are Not Interested in knotting..you can always take them and use little bumper silicon beads on some fine Soft Flex wire , string em up, stick a clasp on and crimp them shut. necklace !

i am thinking and looking
i do seem to like the odd ball pearls.... the ripples and baroque pearls...those drip or tear drops are pretty cool too
i just sold a print so most likely i will get some
i'm not sure what a good strand should look like, and i need it to end up at least 20'' and pretty large beads to keep in scale with my ......um, expanded horizons.... ?
so i keep looking and looking and LOOKING
but i'm going to keep doing the faux stuff too for the tree, i've always wanted to string them right with tassels on the ends for the tree

you'll be in good company then ..... having pearl dreams over your shoulder so to speak

so then since we showed you ours......... ahem???
photos right?

Here you go! I removed a few pearls and restrung my peacock Tahitian bracelet on black beader's secret. It was a bit too long and kept rolling off my wrist when I removed my jacket.

I actually like the black thread with the pearls but if anyone has any suggestions for more suitable thread colours I'll order some from pattye.

What would you recommend for my pearls Katbran? Storm? Or Forest Green?

thank you so much for the photo
i think they're wonderful

I think the black thread looks just fine with those when outdoors.

I have pearls that are very dark outdoors but lighter and more colorful indoors.
Are your pearls lighter indoors? Do you still like the black thread then?

Hanadama, to my eye, the black thread looks very appropriate with those pearls. And your knotting is excellent! The next lighter color is COAL. Might be fun to try a contrasting color if there's a favorite shade you wear often, such as purple, fuchsia, red or turquoise. You know how easy to change if you got bored with the combination.

Pattye thanks for reminding me ... COAL that's the other one ! I knew I was forgetting one of the colours! Hanadama .. I like the black in that photo but if you feel like it's too dark then at some point change it up . I'd suggest you order a range of colours in the grey-black . I tend to use Grey for most of the silvery/grey ones but I've got Coal and Black etc for dark if I need it.

I definitely think a range of 'white' and 'black' is essential if you are going to be doing a lot of Tahitians or White pearls. In fact..I need to order some Coal....

Hanadama,

beautiful bracelets and the knotting looks amazing!!

Thank you all!

Here they are indoors! I still don't mind the black, what do you think?

Thanks Pattye, I'll give coal a try!

I really like to use storm on my Tahitians. I find though that the colors are very forgiving...in other words, it depends on which subtle tones you wish to bring out in the pearls. To me, black is a perfect neutral for Tahitians! Your bracelet is lovely. What does the clasp look like?

I might sound ridiculous, but I would definitely try grape thread with your bracelet
