Adult Jelly Bean!

Going the last mile before putting this beautiful pearl to bed…

First collage below is a study in combined natural/incandescent lighting. The middle and right photos are the OPPOSITE ends of the pearl. Hard to tell the difference? That's due to the near perfect symmetry of the pearl.

Second set was done with Lisa C in mind, blasting the pearl with my entire battery of household tests: (left to right) USB microscope, candled with LED and candled with laser. There is some translucency under LED but not very useful. Laser is the usual light show, not sure what's going on with those myriad dots.

Microscope is an end shot exploring the aragonite crystal arrangements as they are forced to 'tie things off' in an otherwise linear landscape. The angular interface of the straight crystals as they form a curve is readily apparent (boxed area)…
