Happy New Year to everyone!

Nerida, yes, that's the kind of picture I like to see :). I believe this is the first time I "see" you, without sunglasses.

Oh, in my bushwalk photos.. well yes, this is me sans sunglasses in China. If I showed you the photos outside the building, well then I probably would have them on, I think.

:) I got my lovely pair of earrings from Boo today! Thank you, Boo! I love them!

The little amethyst beads click together so cheerfully when I move my head.

I had to post photos:

Me, too!! Just checked my mail and they're beautiful! I love these luscious berries! Thank you, again, Boo, for the fun game, your generosity and your quick shipment.

I'll wear them tonight with joy, and Happy New Year to everyone!

Ladies, you look so lovely modeling them! I am tickled pink that they make you happy :D

May everyone have a safe and happy holiday and a joyous 2009!

This is like a coming out party, isn't it - suddenly we are all posting photos that show what we look like!
Drucilla, Pearl_Dreams, the photos are great, and Boo, thanks for the enjoyment of all of this (and your generosity..).

You all do such lovely and inspiring work! I found that Dremel makes a tiny drill press to use with the Dremel tool just today and purchased on for about $32.00. After setting it up tonight I was able to drill about 6 of Jeremy's pearls. I am very excited! Now I can get started making things.

Maybe I'll be able to post a picture. That'll be my New Year's resolution! I've been out of touch a couple of days changing phone companies. Just got my first cell phone. In about a week my computer will be free of the old program that was strangling it. We'll see.

Happy New Year's everybody.

Boo and the PG 'family':
Thanks everybody for posting your beautiful work. You all have such great ideas and such generosity of spirit. The world can only be a better place because you are all in it focusing your good spirits together and contributing so much to each other's lives. I wonder sometimes how I got so lucky to be a part of all this and I feel guilty because I have been unable to post pictures and return that part of all this. But I know this year will be great for us all and I wish everybody a colorful and creative year!

You are all wonderful!!

Vista? :D

Just kidding, of course. It's not that bad. People just expected so much more after XP.

Here's one of the pieces I've made using the smaller mixed rounds. The 33" strand is my first attempt at a graduated strand. I tried to put pearls of similar size together and smaller ones on the end, but it was more important to me that similar colors didn't end up side by side. I wear it doubled and couldn't be happier with it. :)

(I'm on a funky monitor, so I can't tell if the white pearls look blown out. Let me know if it looks bad-- I'll replace the pics with less/better toned versions.)

Thank you all for posting pictures. I love seeing creativity here. I had a hard time matching, so I decided to match pairs of same size and colors then work my strands from there. I've since then reworked my rope. I also shortened my rope by taking out white and pastel ones to combine with the green ones to make more pendants for Mom and sister. But I notice that using the green ones in a strand makes it pop, like Boo's and Lauren's.

I played with my rounds quite a lot yesterday. First I placed them in row be size, then to divided it in 3 groups ; whites, lavenders and peach. I like the result of this. I'll end up doing ( I think..) three graduated ropes, naming them "study" in white, purple and peach.

I have made in the past a rope of 9.5-10.5mm white FW matched beautifully by size but not matched at all in tone. All the pearls in it have wonderful luster and orient and the subtle differences of color make this strand (at least in my eyes) a gorgeous creation. I love it the most out of all my white strands and I whenever I have it on, I have people commenting on it !!. The graduated "colorful" whites from Jeremy will make another stunning strand ( again, I repeat, you have to like to see not matched color-wise pearls).

Ivona, I personally love the sort of necklace you are describing! I am indeed a fan of the subtle nuance that celebrates the variability of the pearls.

And barbie, we love having you in the PG family! You are so sweet and post such kind and encouraging things, I can't even imagine how you could feel "guilty"!

Brilliant! Thank you for letting us know, and please keep us posted! I love their tools and it's very exciting to learn of a relatively inexpensive solution to the occasional pearl drilling predicament.

Someone mentioned variable speed drills for pearls. My Dremel has a switch for different speeds, but I don't know if there's a pedal or perhaps a control on the press for switching speeds smoothly?

Brilliant! Thank you for letting us know, and please keep us posted!

Yes, I am still trying to solve this. I keep waiting for the woman from the local jewelry store to come up with her drill that she wants to sell. Maybe now that Christmas is over, overwise I'm going to go the dremel route I think.

I have decided to try Argentium Silver wire, beads and findings, now that I have discovered WG wire, beads and findings are not always Rhodium plated, resulting in subtle uneven colour in the finished products that bugs me because I know it's there

Besides, the range of beads and findings in WG is not great, and they cost so much more than Argentium Silver

Ah well, another expensive lesson learned! :)

DK :)
