I'm a precious Australian Opal Lapidary artist who loves antique jewelry and buy and sell and get inspired by it on the side.

This is something special.

I present for analysis,

One Antique; 24 inch Matinee, Graduated, Strand of 99, Round to Near Round, Natural, Wild, Saltwater Pearls. Ranging in size from 3.5mm-9mm.

With a fine 16k Gold and Platinum Filigree J hook Clasp. Set with/
1×6mm centre stone.
2x4mm flanking slight pink
4x2.5mm accents
Aprox 2ct Total CT weight

The pearls are round and near round. The centre 9mm is the roundest.

Graduation from 3.5mm-9mm.

All matched tone and over tones.

Graduated evenly.

99 pearls.

The smaller pearl's are where the near rounds are. The larger ones are almost all round. With the 9mm centre being the roundest.

The piece weighs 18 grams

The clasp is 100% older then cultured pearls have been around.
No chipping or peeling of nacre or any signs of being cultured.

Are these actually graduated saltwater pearls?
Or has someone put newer pearls with an older clasp?

Should I get it restrung?
keep it original?

How much will thorough reports 99 peaels and 7 diamonds and then appraisals cost?

Hello OpalHolic! Welcome to our pearl loving forum.
What a find! Very nice photos too. Wow.

I'm getting "Natural Pearl Vibes" from the pearls in the necklace...but I find it hard to believe!
I would send the necklace to a Gem Lab for identification. It seems well worth it. They may even suggest who to take it over for appraisal, as most labs do not do this (but yours may!, just be sure to ask!).
