Will do. Also left some without glue, no beads on the run so far...

    Tahitian Stretch Bracelets

Why? I whipped up several stretchy experiments after seeing this thread, and used the superglue version of Vigor because that's what was handy. No ill effects yet. Does superglue cause damage to/hardening of the elastic?

    Mastoloni 2009 Internet Marketing

Isn't this the one who's preoccupied with hens? :p I shouldn't make fun, though ? keeping idioms straight is super-duper tough.

    Recent Ebay buys

Hey, I'd trade my 28 year old neck for my neck at 68 right now in return for a guarantee I'd make it there and in comparable style, Caitlin. :)

Trying to figure out what I have here.

No doubt this has occurred to you, but if the clasp is valuable enough that fear of losing it limits your enjoyment of the pearls, maybe it should go back in the safety deposit box and you need a shiny new clasp. :)

    Opal Pearls

Perhaps high quality opals contain less water and are more dense? My initial question when I saw them was whether or not the opals had to have a surface treatment to make them less porous. Some porosity is probably ideal though, to let the nacre form a strong bond.

    Natural Abalone Pearls

I think that made a world of difference-- definitely easier to read. The contrast also complements the thumbnail better, I think. Seems easier to see the interplay of colors, shine, metal colors, etc. in the pic.

    South Sea Finest!

Breathtaking-- thank you so much for showing us. If the client is amenable, please let us know which direction you go with the clasp design. For fun, perhaps designers here could elaborate on what sprang into their minds when they read the part about the clasp search. I really admire...

Question about making a rope with various size pearls

Cathy, you just solved a problem I didn't even realize I had. I'm going to be showing a friend several strands of pearls soon. That board is great for presentation/comparison, as well as design... might even be handy for photography under certain circumstances. Thanks!

Marie Antoinette's pearls up for auction

I missed this thread before... very interesting. Perhaps the pearls are more charming in person if they are lustrous in a way the camera can't completely convey. And maybe the brown overtones were a good way to downplay similar coloration of teeth? :) Seems morbid that pearls belonging to one...

    Natural Abalone Pearls

The pendants are beautiful! A respectful suggestion about your Web site (because it seems to be in the late stages of ongoing construction (the "click here links") — your background is a bit dark. I find that the text is still readable, but it does not stand out. Likewise, the colors of...

They do sell loose pearls like this, but you've probably seen that part of their site already.

    100 Inch Rope Challenge!!

I've never done this, but I've noticed some temp strands are on multiple strands of thread. Perhaps one could pull all but one of the temp strand threads out of the pearls, then slide a long length of fine doubled wire acting like a needle for the permanent strand into the pearls. Then pull...

    Pearls Reflected

Looked up Bernd and Tom Munsteiner... incredible. "Picasso of gems" indeed. More pearls-- big version is too big for PG without resizing, so it's worth clicking on at the site linked above :

    Pearls Reflected

Would you elaborate? Not sure what you mean because rectangular pendants are so common. The reflections do look preternaturally sharp-- think the back of the aquamarine is foiled like a mirror, or perhaps that 18k edge is actually a shiny slab of gold? That would help explain the...

    "A Must have Book!"

Thanks for posting about the Pearl Professor story, his updates seem to come so slowly of late... don't know what to do with myself when I'm procrastinating and I'm caught up on PG. :D When I stumbled on it at Google Books a few months ago, I knew it was on my must have list!

    A Noteworthy Strand?

It's rather terrifying how often that suspicion seems to arise. Several of the beader-jewelers here have mentioned quick stringing for clients... really seems like the way to go in terms of keeping the customer calm and the goods safe. Anyone ever heard of a straight-out "have...
