I use the Otto Frei Pepe Pearl & Bead Drilling Machine along with my Foredom power drill. It does work well if I'm careful and allows me to use my drill for other jewelry design purposes. That being said, I would still love to have the expensive professional Japanese pearl drills.

Whenever my husband dresses up, he wears a Kamoka pearl on leather necklace, special order to get a larger pearl. It's quite nice.

I love them, but with me, I pick the biggest that I can stand to wear.:) I do have a bigger earlobe and I have not experienced that as helpful to larger earrings. They just push the lobe toward my neck/head and hang down. So I use larger backings which help a lot. I think your earlobes look...
