    what pearls?

Hello, I recently purchased this necklace, 50cm, size from 2,5 to 13mm, old knotting, definitely old stuff. Not in my hand yet, so I will tell more once I get it. But let's ask the question. What pearls?

    KIMA (Tridacna sp) Pearls

sadly abrasion or surface correction is very common in this area. my corrected pears are trisidos semitorla and atrina vexillum. Very hard to say, from a picture, if the pearl is fully natural, corrected, or re-shaped, as most of sellers take very bad pictures...

Inherited some pearl necklaces from Parisian grandparents

The single strands look like 60's 70's akoya to me. The other with 3 strands is strange, the clasp looks good but I don't know about the pearls. I saw your message telling center is a yellow diamond, that was my thought, rim is rose cut diamond. Do you have other pictures of it, close ups, maybe...

    Tiny New Strand

This is good stuff, old necklace probably restrung as some pearls are not barrel shaped like others, but fo me it's 100% natural pinctada sp pearls. You could put some uv light to check for some pteria sp pearls. The clasp, based from picture, is yellow and white gold.

Far more than the white natural pears same size range I gave them to sell.... My both necklaces were 1,9 to 5, 5 and 2, 2 to 5, 2mm , both went for about 350$ and 250$... A third 8 row went for same price range I lost about 500€ with them, excluding the fees they charged me... No more in...

A few questions about mussel pearls (especially blue and Atlantic ribbed mussels)

If you would sell a nice mussel pearl, large enough, and a small mussel shell specimen, I would be interested, and same for quahog pearl, I would find a nice quahog pearl...and small shell too. About the reasons making the pearl, I think it's environmental. Maybe areas with lots of mud, deposit...

    Is this a blister pearl?

Where are you located? It may be a freshwater pearl, it seems these were really common in USA, Mississippi and Tennessee, because of mother of pearl industry I would say from second half on XIX to maybe the 60's or so. I have a whole collection of freshwater pearls from turn of century and some...

    Pearl necklace casing

A new case, I put a necklace inside for the picture. I think original necklace inside had a silver clasp with single diamond, victorial era. Sadly, I bought such a necklace a year ago with a shorter section and TWO diamond clasps, but it was stolen during shipping.

    Pearl necklace casing

Hello, I wanted to create a thread about pearl casing and it's variety of design. I now own several good examples, from various french and english jewellers, big houses or unknown jewellers, from I think late XIX to 40's. Here are two casings I have, with pearls inside, the first case is...

    Early Akoyas

what is interesting is tecla is born in 1908, and same year, the Mikimoto process was copyrighted. It seems the very early Mikimoto results were in 1893, I was thinking about much later results, maybe 20's or so. It's explaining now why I found cultured pearls with nice gold clasps and old mine...

    parfaitelumiere natural pearl collection

this one went for a good price, I think about market price. Sadly, I will loose lots of money on fees, certificate and vat, but it's still a good thing for me. I made a attempt somewhere else, and lost money , spent about 1200€ for 3 necklaces, nice ones, but with small pearls, and sold them...

The x ray, never did it. The first restring has been put in auction house, and gets certificate from "Laboratoire français de gemmologie", described as "natural saltwater pearl", as I estimated it. I am collecting since maybe one year now, don't remember exactly, started on the forum, was...
