Look at these amazing colors from freshwater edison pearls.

Previous production using younger mollusk have the tendency to fade. This is true.. Also previous productions also have more birthmarks on pearls under the top layer which is very noticeable. Depending on the farm technology, production has gotten real good, but still scarce. Fading also depends...

Look at these amazing colors from freshwater edison pearls.

These are not dyed and 100% natural color. Mollusk that are older (3yrs+) produce stronger nacre and color. I have no idea where your daughter bought her pearls, but if it faded, there are other underlying factors that might have caused it. P.S - Treated color pearls do not fade. The...

    Giant Edison Pearls are Here

Plastic cards to display a strand like this weighs about 65g, not sure about cardboard, my guess would be 40g. The pearls are so big, they honestly don't look good in person.

    Giant Edison Pearls are Here

To my knowledge and what I've seen, there's at least 15kg. Someone in Zhuji offered me a 8kg lot, which price made absolutely no sense. Many of them are sending individual pcs to Guild for lab certs and selling them by the pc.

    Giant Edison Pearls are Here

Maybe I should mention, there was a recent harvest last last yr to earlier this year. Production of these are super lightweight compared to traditional bead nucleation. My sources told me that the inside is plastic nucleus (something that farmers were trying, and succeeded). As far as...

AGTA News - "Chinese/Baby Akoya" are Actually Nucleated FWPs!

FWP Bead nucleated. There's a big pearl wholesaler in Tucson (tent) that sells FWP AK at 10mm+. Ballsy enough to have tags that says akoya on every strand. I have yet to see any decent yield of Saltwater Chinese akoya. Of all the ones who claim they have Chinese AK, it's all been FWP.

AGTA News - "Chinese/Baby Akoya" are Actually Nucleated FWPs!

All kind of crazy things come from China. There are maybe 3 different certs available for Chinese AK pearls. All could be found in the far end of the China pavilion in HK show (AsiaWorld)

And here's the copy-cat certs coming out of China.. Apparently the institution on the cert doesn't have a website, even though it states that it does. Also note, they call these AKIRA 😅

AGTA News - "Chinese/Baby Akoya" are Actually Nucleated FWPs!

Here's another company .. But this one is worse, it's a closeout dealer selling to retail stores. So these stores buying closeouts would be marketing them incorrectly.

GIA adds Hanadama Quality Indicator to Certificates

We did come across 11-12mm akoya in hanadama quality last yr. However, I am curious to see when GIA will adapt to the TEN-NYO standard. As @jspheperd mentioned, tennyo should be cherry picked Hanadama. Supposedly, it needs to have at least 90-100 teri, which means 2x the shine and luster of...
