    ICPGC - Pearl Guide Ruckus!

A wonderful weekend indeed! It isn't even over yet for me - I am stuck at O'Hare waiting for a plane to replace the plane that replaced the plane I was originally supposed to be on... I'd much rather be looking at pearls!

Oh, Sueki! You know we will! The only thing that could make the icpgc better would be more PGers - so start saving up for next time!! ;)

    uhm... ?

Oh, Wendy - I meant that the rosebuds offered above were overwhelmingly flat compared to yours, and that the flat spots might not bug other folks like they do me. I would happily use rosebuds like the ones you offer - they look quite similar to the strand I have - a few flatter areas, but...

    Large Thai rounds

Flameballs give me a squidgy feeling because of the dubious nature of the nuclei. On the other hand, I did enter into the latest PealParadise contest to win one, so I apparently don't have terribly strong feelings on the matter, just a vague unwillingness to spend money on them.

    uhm... ?

Hmm - price aside, it looks as though someone has been possessed by the spirit of Care Ehret. I understand that imitation is a form of flattery and all that, but - wow. And Wendy, I can tell just from the photos that yours are definitely nicer (although I am personally biased against those...

    Tahitian bracelets: baroque, leather, misc.

Wow - those are all great. I am drooling over the colors (darn it, there goes another keyboard...) I have a Tahitian pearl anklet that I wear frequently, as well. There is just something fun about wearing a pearl like that in a relatively unexpected place.

    "Floppy Coins"

Thanks for the update, Sarah!! Although I confess to being a bit startled by this quote: How can a pearl be referred to as non-nucleated when there is very clearly a foreign substance around which nacre deposition occurs?

    Attention pink lovers!

I think raj is asking about the Death Star pearls - where a circular area of the pearl looks like it got ignored by the nacre depositing machinery so there is a spot on the pearl where the nacre is less deep than the rest (for instance, the pearl at the end of the pink strand as well as a trio...

    Tahitian Stretch Bracelets

A little iambic pentameter, perhaps? Alas the strand is parted at the knot by traitor glue that doth not flex and curl I bend toward the carpet in distress to seek on hand and knee the furtive pearl :D:D:D

    100 Inch Rope Challenge!!

Sarah, that rope is amazing- a veritable rainbow of color. I am so jealous that your reclaimed pearls look like *that*! I'll add some paper clips to the momi bag! :p

    100 Inch Rope Challenge!!

borah, I fold it in half so I have a 25" length, twist it, put it over my neck and then hold the 2 ends together with a pearl clip ( I fasten it in front so I can see what I'm doing and then slide it to the back)

    100 Inch Rope Challenge!!

Inge, when I have an unmanageable length of stringing material, I coil it up and hold it in the coil with a paper clip (the ones I use are actually shaped like flat spirals, but I think regular ones would work the same). So my work consists of the knotted pearls, several feet of thread, a couple...
