My new semi-baroque Tahitian earrings 10-11mm

    White SS earrings

Jeremy and Hisano have more pairs if you are interested. The carat weight must be very minimal. I doubt if it's more than .2 pts.

    White SS earrings

I glued the findings on last night. They are absolutely beautiful, not too heavy, swing seductively below the ribbons, and have just enough statement but not overwhelming to my features. I still have the description on the Bella's plastic bag, 18K WG, 2.51 g, was $220.78.

    White SS earrings

I've been wanting a pair of drop or oval white South Sea earrings for awhile. In 2010 I also bought some WG earring findings at Bella Findings brick and mortar store. I've been holding on to those findings until I have the right SS pearls. Here are vendor pictures. They are about 11.5mm, silver...

    a question of color....

I am not a fan either. Some of them remind me of burn victim skin.

    My first beaded necklace.

Beautiful execution. The clasp goes so well with everything. I think it looks very sharp with the fluorite. Is Beadazzled still there? I would like to visit if I am in the area.

    Advice on making stretch-bracelet

Maiakity, I missed your thread the first time around in 2012. If I didn't I would have referred you to the following two threads: https://www.pearl-guide.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5481 https://www.pearl-guide.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3643

    Advice on making stretch-bracelet

In the past I used Stretch Magic but found it to be too stretchy. I doubled up the .5mm and knotted every 3 or 4 pearls. I like Beadalon Elasticity better. It doesn't stretch too much like Stretch Magic and feels more secure, just my preference. My local brick and mortar Michaels and Hobby Lobby...

    Pearl knotting with no tools

Not really. I followed Virchik's book almost to the T. It was confusing watching this video at first mostly because it was recorded when she was further along and the pearls kept getting caught when she pulled it through. I wasn't sure what she was doing. Now that I've been knotting for awhile...

    Pearl knotting with no tools

This PP's youtube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O12P1OaMCe8 from a few years ago is similar to Hisano's technique in that one left finger puts pressure on the knot on top of the pearl while pulling the thread with right hand.

    Pearl knotting with no tools

Blaire, I've bought Power Pro from Sport Authority, Cabela's online, Gander Mountain (I don't think they have stores in CA) in large spools when they are on sale. I usually use 50 lb green for Tahitian pearls and 30 lb white for other stuffs. Bass Pro Shop carries it too. Caitlin, Hisano's...

    Pearl knotting with no tools

I just tried this with 7 pearls using silk. I couldn't get the knot to form tight next to the pearl either. But I was successful when separating the strands. I was afraid to pull hard (fear of breaking silk like I've done many times) so the knots seem ok. I am sure with Power Pro it'll be much...

    Pearl knotting with no tools

Thank you Caitlin. So many ways to do it, and in the end it's the same result. It's a personal preference when it comes to knotting. I started out with Virchik's book and used needle to slide the knot close to the pearl. Then in 2011 we learned Hisano's technique. It was so much better for me...

Two Crazy Pearl Lovers head to Pearl Paradise.

We started out in San Francisco last week, drove on HW 1, stopping in Carmel Highlands for a few days, and then Cambria to see the Hearst Castle. Didn't get to see the live chat and only saw about 1.5 minutes of it afterward. We arrived in Santa Barbara around 12:30 PM today, just in time to see...

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

Pearl Paradise blue akoya twisted with pink metallic strand (2011 ruckus gift from Jeremy). Pendant is made from Kojima's loose pearl. I put an eye ring on it (I think that's what it's called) big enough for chain and can be paired with the enhancer. Both riogrande.com and bellafindings.com...

A new super necklace of 20 - 28 mm. pearls

The picture is deceiving if one doesn't know the size of the pearls. Quite pretty but the size ruins it. If the necklace is made up of round pearls, it would even seem more cartoonish. Surely it isn't comfortable wearing it either. What kind of pearl is this that comes from "huge shells in the...

Fake, Imitation, Laguna, Faux, Majorica, Majorcan, Swarovski Pearl Photos, Stories

Sierratradingpost.com usually has Majorca strands on sale. If you sign up with them, they email coupon codes at least twice weekly, anywhere from 25 to 40 percent off. They currently have baroque and round strands. The baroque strands are 10-12mm, 14-16mm. This morning I saw a round peacock...
