    Pearls on Etsy

Light hearted maybe, but we have seen ebay sellers (rightly) slated on here for listing dyed freshwater pearls as Tahitian. I see no difference between those Ebay sellers and the Etsy sellers or any others who describe dyed f.w.'s as Tahitian. And quite apart from the honesty issue, I really...

    100 Inch Rope Challenge!!

O.K. I know these are pearls and will always look fabulous, but Crikey ! Ivona, they don't half look good on you !.....:)

strand lengths vs length of pearls

Welcome to the forum, DFE. I would expect the length stated to include the clasp, and 0.25 inch is reasonable tolerance. As the others state, the necklace will settle down and stretch out a little after a couple of wearings. Having said all that, I always give actual measurements on my items...

    Using for tools holder??

No, you're not alone Knotty. My tools all have their plastic covers in place. I figure they are supplied with the tools to protect the tips, so I should take the hint. And I love the Cabelas tidy - might treat myself to that and free up some drawer space....

    Pearl sizes and PowerPro

Mostly I use 15lb., 20lb., and occasionally 30lb. However, I have used 150lb. recently on a re-stringing job for a client. The beads were huge - about 25mm. - and very heavy. Not pearls - they were some kind of faux turquoise. I still found the Powerpro very easy to knot, even at that size. And...

    Just one of those nights.

Cheers Bernadette. :) One reason I temporarily string is because I long ago realised that my neck is different to my sisters, for example. Necklaces that drape well on her don't on me and vice versa. For instance, a double row has to have 1.5 inches difference in strand lengths for me...

Indeed I do... Always Simply because it saves me so much time and effort in the long run.

    French Bullion Wire

Hi Pearlcat, I use mostly medium size, silver and gold colour. I have used fine and heavy, but not very often. I get mine from here: http://www.firemountaingems.com/search.asp?skw=french+wire

Locking a rope w/o a clasp and other questions about PowerPro

Hi Jiazzi, Yes, I've noticed this too. I like Powerpro because of it's strength and ease of use, but it is possible to stretch it out if I pull hard enough. Mind you, in my case (age weakened muscles) it takes more than a little muscle.....:)

    Need advice on stringing material

Hi Beth, The Beadalon wire I use is the 7 strand 0.015" or 0.012". I use it only for temp. stringing when putting designs together, so the pearls are never on it for very long.

    Need advice on stringing material

:D I'm afraid I'm the world's worst..... I finish a necklace and then decide it'll look nicer longer.... Or I change my mind about the design half-way through knotting it  And I've not noticed any pearl dust either; except when the pearls are temporarily strung on Beadalon wire; when it...
