KarinK we must have similar tastes because my vote is exactly the same - and I love over the top Indian jewelry too! I would love to see a suite of jewelry made up to match the 'Edison' piece... Sadly I also have a least favorite, and it is a shame, because GSS are usually my favorite pearls!

Judi - no real change at all in prices, as per Jeremy's comment. I bought larger stock, and paid equal or less than prices for identical goods at the February show.

I will let you know today... I will be buying at the HK show in a few hours' time. For all the stock I normally have shipped to me, there has only been a marginal change that I have noticed. I think someone is telling you a bit of a story, but will confirm with you this evening!

Yes Pattye you are right - the light grey freshwater pearls are mostly irradiated. There is a naturally occurring grey freshwater (from the lavender strain) but almost all that are commercially available are irradiated.

Links aren't working for me either, sorry Wendy. It is odd that a few of the pearls have such a 'Tahitian' shape - there are definitely a few that look Tahitian - most look freshwater - but all look dyed. I would pass on them, I think. One thing they are not is vintage.

1/4 inch is roughly 6mm, slightly more. Like Bernadette, I would estimate these to be closer to 8mm. Great buy for the price!

Can't see too clearly from your photo but wondering if they are shell beads - like the nuclei used in the pearl industry. I have seen these strung into strands on occasion... The lines you mention on the beads seem support my theory - shell nuclei beads often have striations on them..
