A real case scenario that I thought would be relevant to this discussion. Here is what a lovely Canadian customer had to pay on a finished pearl item shipped to her from China via Fedex: "The pearls with the conversion to CAD were valued for duty at $458.26. Based on that amount I paid $38.95...

What a stunning pearl!

60 to 65 thousand pearls..? :) The size should be about 7.5-8 mm or so...and I would guess that there are about 2000 strands in there.....between 28 - 34 pearls in a strand... Of course, I might be quite wrong...but just wanted to give it a shot..:D This is fun!!

That's lovely Pattye! I love your idea of smashing the bad pearl and saving yourself the restringing. :) Love the combination of the colours and textures in this necklace. The clasp is pretty too. :)
