Your opinion on this pearl strand

I've wasted a lot of money in the early days buying strands that wasn't what I really wanted but cost less. I wish I had waited and pooled that money. And I still have the pull at anything, not just pearls, to buy something because it is a good deal. It isn't if you don't use it. Great that you...

Hi can you tell me if these are south sea? They are 10-10.5mm 14k clasp. Also what is a fair price to offer for them?

A good rule of thumb is that if it looks too good to be true, it usually is. $180 is way too good to be true :-) It's a good idea to spend time looking at the kind of pearls you like from the various online vendors and get familiar with how they look and what they cost. That way it is easier to...

I am designing Mabe pearl jewelry, please give me some opinions on the designs

My immediate reaction is that that is a lot of money for something that's plated. I might buy gold filled and real silver but never plated, not even cheap. But I would also not be in the market for dyed mabé. I like the vintage look, though. Out of curiosity, what species are the mabé from?

    My Rehoming and Rescue Project

Gaaah! They have a carabiner on Etsy where the screw part is a skull!! This reminds me that I was going to restring my white Tahitians on some colorful thread because I never use them and a carabiner would be a great clasp for such a project. Actually, I rarely wear any of my pearls. Maybe this...

    Tahitian or dyed pearls?

If you consider buying them, you should then compare the price to other dyed freshwater, considering shape and luster, not Tahitians. And if you don't love them, don't buy them.

    More EBay strands

You could have the goal to make a 100" rope, mixing the pearls up in size and quality :-)

    More EBay strands

You could probably use some of the lesser pearl at the back of a nice strand - either app the same size or lightly graduated.

You are also supposed to be able to tell with a loup. Contrary to the tooth test, genuine pearls should look smooth.

LIVESTREAM - Teeny, Tiny Akoya Keshi Pearls!

I was lurking for parts of it, as I often do. It's around my evening reading and bed time so I am on and off. Impossible not to have sweet dreams when the last thing you see before you turn off is pearls :-)

will pearl prices keep increasing in 2024?

You might want to consider pre-loved pearls since pearls don't hold their value well.

    which Akoya pearl overtone?

I am thinking that you will want the pearls to pop. If it is possible for you to either buy both and return the pair that doesn't or try pearls someplace else, that would be the best. I have fair skin with a reddish tone to it and white pearls have more contrast so they show up more clearly...

    what kind of pearls ?

That looks like another bead, not a pearl.

What do you think of these pearl vendors?

The golden rule: if it looks too good to be true, it usually is. In this case, I would not shop anywhere that has something in abundance that established pearl dealers don't. Reviews can be purchased.

Mixing and matching - stringing a mix of beads and pearls safely

Be aware of gem stone beads with sharp edges that can cut through a thread. You may need wire.

    First purchase

Maybe you are just a 'different kind' of pearl person. There is so much variety in shapes and colors. If you hang around this forum, you will see so much more than large, white pearls.

Luster on photo under the daylight

I contacted him on Instagram because of his post and customers here. I asked him if he could find me a natural Akoya strand that hadn't been pinked and he did. The price was very reasonable. I haven't purchased South Sea Pearls from him but I think he can supply pretty much anything. You could...
