    Tiny New Strand

They could have very heavy nacre and be farmed, but they definitely look natural. They don't have the amount of wear that would reveal a bead at the back (barreling), but looking down drill holes with a loupe could tell you more. They are fairly round and the mix of colors is harmonious and...

    Help identify pearl

It's okay to find a bargain and hope for a windfall, but this is NOT A PEARL. It has no value and will not be taken seriously by anyone. Sorry. :)

The Most Incredible Akoya Pearls I Have Ever Seen

Pattye and Andrew, thanks for sharing all of this. LOVE the pearls and the thread and knotting are perfect! It's a wonderful PG thread, not just because the pearls are so stunning, but it's a great lesson in selecting thread color. :)

The Most Incredible Akoya Pearls I Have Ever Seen

I'm thinking Shell. Such a lovely color on its own, but it will melt into the background and the pearls will beam happily.

    Help your opinion with Akoya

Pearl Dreams has a point. For instance, a lot of eBay sellers show a photo of akoya pearls, but send freshwaters. :)

    Help your opinion with Akoya

Akoya pearls typically have very high luster, even if the nacre is a very thin coating on the bead. These are probably Chinese freshwater pearls. What matters is if you like them and the price is good. Real akoya pearls of good quality cost much more than freshwaters. :)

    Is this a pearl?

Maybe. Try shining a pen light at it and see how translucent it is and if there are patterns. It also looks like it could be sugilite. Look at the bottom and see if there is a post drilled into the pearl besides having prongs. Prongs-only could suggest that it's a quahog pearl.

    "The KJM Collection" - Andrew's Mom's Pearls

Thanks for including us in the journey. I think the natural white look better against my skin - they pop and the pinked pearls don't. Mind you, they look good, just not as good. Skin tone matters. I will treasure my PP NWH pearls for the rest of my life and pass them on to be enjoyed by the next...
