Wow- the ripples really give a lot of bang for the buck. They have an other-world quality with that acid green, coppery pink, and violet. And you can have the funky organic ripple texture and sharp luster- in the same pearl! They look amazing on you. I think this may be my next thing.

GIA Event- A Night at the Museum

Thank you for the virtual museum tour! I was a rockhound as a kid and had a little rock & mineral handbook that I carried around. Shawshank Redemption is still a favorite movie of mine because of the rocks and rock hammer. I still know the Mohs Hardness number for too many minerals. This...

Oh jeg, I have to admit I'm jealous. Sometimes I think it would be nice to get locked in a vault full of pearls overnight, but I also imagine it would be lonely without some pearl people to hang out with. This looks like way more fun!

Love the pics of the pearl A-listers. I am reminded of how heartbroken Manuel was when he had to part with a few of his favorite pearls (his children) at PP's SOC live event 🥹

I usually wear longer strands, especially during funnelneck season, to avoid feeling as if I'm being strangled. Yesterday I wore a crewneck and grabbed a fistful of short strands that haven't been worn much this winter. Zero thought process involved. Rikitea Tahitians from PP ( thank you whoever...

I'm glad you got the blue Akoya and keshi piece. It pairs well with so much of what you already have, and it looks like it's fun to wear.

It's all gorgeous, but those blue Akoyas... the luster is making me cry! Wear in good health. I can't wait to see what you do with the danglies.

Thank you. It is happily nesting with some Victorian bar pins from back in the days when I prowled Camden Passage in London.

I'll begin with this: These are not my pearls☺️I was catching up with some NYT articles I missed around the holidays, and I came upon The Mysterious Donor Who Fled Communism and Left Millions to the Art World. The painting is titled Portrait of a Young Woman, or as I call it, Show Us Your...

Thank you @BWeaves ! I'm trying to learn a little more about it. I'm guessing 1840s. It's got the natural pearl and old mine cut diamonds, very Victorian, and it's 18K which is typical of British Victorian jewelry pre-1854. But I can't find any assay marks, which a British piece would normally...

I have some catching up to do, but I'll have to work backwards. This is the latest, from the PP Antique and Vintage Pearl Live. Circa 1800s pearl and diamond brooch, and I'm in love. It didn't show up until 4:30, so the natural light had faded, It's hard to capture the sparkle, but I'm posting...

Don't fret Douglas! I want to set it in a way that doesn't hide the color shift to green that's near the edges. I thought I want's a ring, but I'm kind of a beast with my hands, so it may have to be a pendant. I troll the forum looking for ideas.

Glad you made it through the double whammy. The necklace really pops against that shirt.
